Things that frustrate us all

People without basic reading comprehension skills.

Me: " Follow these instructions exactly....When you complete the quiz, send me an email with your score so I can give you access."
*sees rater has completed the quiz. Waits 10 minutes.*
Them: Rater sends email. "Why can't I get into the next section?"
Me: "Did you read the instructions?"
Them: "Of course!"
Me: "...........and?"
Them: "Huh?"

^I suspect it's a cellphone generation problem. Anything that's longer than an SMS is considered a 3 volume novel. My young colleagues are unable to concentrate enough to understand a longish text. Yet they are supposed to write their own expertises and to understand those of others.

Damn. Sorry to hear that. I hope you didn't sprain it.
no, I tore some fibers in the achilles tendeon. They healed but my body made a mistake and inserted bits of chalk as if it was a broken bone. These rub against the tendeon and cause an inflammation. I got special in-soles yesterday (very comfortable!) and I must do a sort of callisthenics to break the chalk crystals up (not so comfortable but it helps). Should be ok again in a few months

Telephone sales people who ask to speak to a decision maker in your company, but it's like pulling teeth trying to get them to say what they actually want to discuss. :brickwall:

For us, ninety percent of the time, it's about your energy contract.

move to Germany :) Over here, telephone sales are illegal unless the caller has your written permission to call you. If they call you without permission, both the caller and their company face a hefty fine.

Frustrating thing today: native speakers assuming that if you have near perfect grammar and manage to express yourself fluently, you understand every single expression of their language and every cultural peculiarity.
It turns from frustrating to plain annoying if they refuse a polite request to explain.

For me, any of the work ones seem to be from the UK, so if we signed up for TPS, that may work. At home, it's more from outside the country:(

I have a mail box text in English. People calling me quickly hang up thinking they dialled the wrong number . Maybe you could use a German or Chinese text for the same purpose? You only have to previousely warn people whom you allow to call you.
My sis usually answers the phone by "Crematory XY-town" which has proved highly effective.

Frustration today: I ordered a pair of shoes that are supposed to have a wider fit so that my new in-soles will fit in. Disappointingly, the new shoes are as narrow as size G (normal) even though they are supposed to be a size H. Fortunately, they are made of real leather which means they are soft enough to wear out a few millimeters. Still, why do we have norms for sizes if nobody sticks with them?

I hate buying shoes for that reason. But, with leather, they know it's going to give with wear, so I suspect they make leather shoes a little smaller so that when the shoes give, they will fit the way they are supposed to. Good leather shoes are worth the price, I think.

When people don't wear the mask at all, in public transport or in shops and malls
Only way these selfish bastards will listen is if they contact the virus, unfortunately that probably means they'll infect others as well.

I'll be well pissed off if the UK, and Scotland in particular, go back into lockdown again before the 15th of October
I'm due to go to Spain again then
I'm preparing for the worst

I really hate being "weather-feelish" - I get a migraine every time the weather changes, and atm it seems to do hardly anything else. Fortunately, I don't get the full classical migraine with nausea and blurred vision; I only get extremely sensitive to light and noises. Atm even the chirping of the sparrows in front of my window makes me cringe with pain. High time for my meds :(

I hope your medicine helps.

WEEDS! I am not trying to not hurt the environment but to kill unwanted grass and weeds. So I found an idea on the computer to use vinegar, salt, and dish soap. I have used 2 gallons of the mixture so far. It seems to be working, but I have a lot to kill!! It is a battle to get these things!
Have any of you ever used it? Do you know if the grass/weeds grow back or stay dead!?

I've only used the "yank them out of the ground" method.

I'd advise to use neither of the three as they all ruin the soil. Any plant you'll put there for several months will die. Vinegar changes the acitity of the soil - only rhododendrons and other swamp plants will survive that. Salt is deadly for every plant, except for coastal ones. Dish soap kills the microorganisms that make the soil fertile and it might seep into the ground water.
The best way to get rid of weeds is still the mechanical one: tearing them out. If they grow only on small patches, you can cover them with a thick layer of newspaper or card board to make them starve to death from a lack of light. However, some plants simply grow faster and peep out from under the cover. If you have any weeds that propagate by root shoots, the only option you have is to dig them out and sift the soil to get even the tiniest bit of root out. Ground elder is among those who can regrow from tiny bits but it's very tasty in soups, stews, cottage cheese or herbal butter. Many a weed problem can be solved in the kitchen :)
The best solution in the long run is to plant or sow quite densely so that weeds have no space to settle in.
