The German Lounge

I searched for quite a bit but couldn't find a thread (at least not one created within the last year???) that has this, so I thought I'd create one.

I've noticed that there are quite a few Germans here on this board so I thought it would be nice for us to have a little lounge where we can do what Germans do best: Complain. (Just kidding. I think.)

Anyways... if you're German and would like to hang out here, just drop a few words and talk about your day etc etc. I guess the big news at the moment is the storm that's hitting us right now and the usual Deutsche Bahn chaos that's going to be the result of it. So far my area (South West) hasn't been hit but that's going to change in the next few hours, according to weather forecasts.

So yeah, as I said, I'm down here in the South West, near the French border. Where in Germany is everyone else located?

Erlangen, Northern Bavaria.

Tomorrow I have to get up earlier than I usually do. I need Deutsche Bahn to get to my job which is located in Neustadt/Aisch.

I have relatives in Erlangen! :D

I have to go to work tomorrow as well, and while I don't need Deutsche Bahn I do need our local trams and buses, and I suspect neither will run, at least not when I have to go to work (5 in the morning). This is not going to be pleasant.

Deggendorf :) (Lower Bavaria)
I spent 3 hours at the dentist today - how much worse can a week start?
This storm isn't half as bad as the forecast said. I hate it when they exaggerate so badly. If they continue like this, they'll broadcast a warning every evening that it might get dark

Trams and trains here were all canceled, and the storm was so bad that I couldn't even go outside until shortly before 8am. (I normally leave for work at around 5.10am.) I managed to catch the only tram that showed up but then the buses were delayed because a tree had fallen on the road... it was about 9am when I finally arrived at work and it's only now (close to 4.30pm) that the trams are actually starting to show up again. They really pulled everything off the tracks for over ten hours. So yeah, the storm was pretty bad in my neck of the woods. Normally we're the ones who are lucky because bad weather tends to avoid us, but this time we got hit.

here, all the buses did go and actually stuck to the schedule. I'm not sure what the situation was in the Hinterland but I heard that in the mountains there were some fluctuations in the power grid (light flickering - nothing worse). That was to be expected what with the storm pushing the lines at each other.
Someone apparently forgot to bring in their laundry in time. On Monday, the town was covered in black lacy underwear LOL.
I have a splitting headache from the weather change (yesterday Föhn, today snow) but that's not unusual either.

On Saturday my sis and I were in Finsterau at the world championships in biathlon and cross country skiing of the disabled sportspeople. We saw a lot of athletes who participated in the last paralympics. There was even a team from Brazil! (And they did amazingly well). It was a lot of fun and we'll definitely go there again, next time. Perhaps some of you would like to join us then? It's free :)

You’re more than welcome to visit our Lounge and have as much cheese as you like.

As long as you don’t dig any holes ;)
