It wasn't, which is why it struck me the way it did. Just an ordinary episode, ordinary scene, but they played it like there was something going on between them.

I really hope Beverly didn't die before the show starts, I've always liked her and I'd hate to see her killed like that.

Data died in Nemesis, but he's now back in flashbacks/dream sequences.

He didn’t until Troi told him too. Which is crazy, if it was the only way Geordi would have done it. Troi would have had to order Geordi not to do it, and instead order an underling to (because Geordi is needed elsewhere).
