so the article argues that she is not a mary sue by pointing out how big a mary sue she is.
Which article are you referring to? The one you posted as definitive proof that Rey was a Mary Sue but then didn't turn out to say what you thought it said because you have poor reading comphension, so now you're calling it stupid and going back to posting your same list of mushmouthed and easily refuted qualifications for Mary Suedom for the thousandth time?
she is
-overpowered
-her power level is unexplained
-she is a perfectly good character, always nice and virtuous
-no personality or no personality that she is developing into and she has no personality flaws
-no faults
-instantly liked by everyone
-wish fulfillment by the author
- never embarrassed and when she does fail she immediately fixes it
- she doesn't need help or training
the article is so bloody stupid..
She's not overpowered in comparison to other SW lead character Force users like Anakin and Luke, and even non-Force using leads share many of her traits like Han. The only difference is this one's a girl so you're flipping out about it.
I think she has a great personality and that why I like the character so much, despite the often times hugely derivitive of
ANH film that
TFA was, and I won't even get into my dislike of
TLJ. Rey elevates the material she is in, IMO.
Who disliked Luke besides Walrus Face and Dr. Evazan at the cantina who just go around picking drunken fights with randos they don't even know on multiple desert planets? Seriously, do you even think about what you're typing before you commit to it? Because it doesn't seem like it.
Who is Rey an author insert for? George Lucas (concept)? JJ Abrams? Lawrence Kasdan? Michael Arndt?
You just said she has no faults or fails yet said she instantly corrects her fails. You're not consistent from one sentence to the next.
maybe you can but they actually showed struggle and development and personality for them too. Also just throwing shade back on the old movies to make excuses for the new ones.. it doesn't;'t work
It's not throwing shade on the old movies to say she had a similar level of development as Luke and Anakin. I love the old movies, warts and all. I can just be objective and don't get all in a tizzywinkle if a girl exhibits the same traits and writing techniques as Luke and Anakin.
