"Superman & Lois Lane" flying to The CW

Which clearly means we need a new AGENT CARTER series as well. :)

Oh, I didn't think of that one. Technically she's had one short film and one series named after her.

You might want to read some comics. Superman's been a father for years now and amazingly, still manages to fly around beating people up.

Yeah, Jon Kent appears to be a major presence in the comics these days, which is no doubt why the Arrowverse chose to follow suit by having Clark & Lois become parents.

And it's interesting that this series would pick up with them as new parents, given that the previous show named after them, Lois and Clark, ended at about that point (assuming the plan was for them to keep the mysterious baby that showed up on their doorstep in the final episode's cliffhanger).

If this is an actual superhero show, I'd love to watch it. If its like the shitty 90s show and mostly focuses on Lois & Clark's relationship (although in the case of the CW characters it would be a relationship where they're married and have a kid, instead of generic "will they/won't they" BS), with about 45 seconds of Superman every 2-3 episodes, I won't bother.

I like the CW Superman well enough, and the CW Lois is probably my second favorite Lois after the Smallville one, so I think they could have a great show based off of them, and I'd love to see the CW actually get to do a show about one of the big DC heroes (and hopefully actually get to use his villains, unlike the movies that always use the same few and the other live action Superman shows that barely used supervillains at all).

Gee. A show called "Lois and Clark: The new adventures of Superman" not focusing too much of Superman? Imagine that

You knew what you were getting into when the show was primarily about Lois And CLARK

Now it's Superman and Lois Lane

Did I ever say that the title of the 90s show lied? No, I didn't. I said it was a shitty show. Also, Lois's name can be in the title and it can still have Superman doing Superman stuff more often then once every few episodes. Its like how the CW shows all have plots about the non hero side characters, sometimes even having them be the A-plot of an episode, yet they are still superhero shows, not RomComs.

So, I'm just saying that I want the new show to actually be a superhero show, and not copy the 90s show where the Superman stuff was just slapped on a show presumably for brand recognition and to trick some viewers who wouldn't watch a romantic focused sitcom to tune in. Lois Lane can be a main character and we can still have a lot of the episode focus on Superman stuff, they aren't mutually exclusive.

Yeah -- the original idea there (back in a time when superheroes weren't as reputable as today) was to do a romantic workplace comedy about Lois and Clark, with Superman only talked about and never appearing in costume. That didn't pan out, but they still tried to minimize the Superman content in season 1, though there was more of it in later seasons.

Which does seem to make it an unconventional choice of protagonists for a CW/Arrowverse show. I'm certainly interested to see how the show turns out (if at all)...

This news makes me sad(der) that Mehcad Brooks has bailed. They never really found a good place for him on Supergirl after he was nixed as Kara's love interest, but Jimmy's role in the traditional Superman ensemble is well-established, and I have a feeling Hoechlin and Brooks might have had decent buddy chemistry. I liked where they ended with the character on Sg last night, but given this development, it would have been better still just to send him back to Metropolis to join the cast of Sm&LL.

Last week, Supergirl crosses the US border twice, ignoring the hells out of customs enforcement entirely.

Trying a cavity search on a Kryptonian.

Say good by to your fingers buddy.

I am not predicting anything and call me overly optimistic but I think it’s still possible. It’s a long way off from this new show actually airing. Brooks leaving Supergirl leaves it open for him to do another series.

The way we last saw Jimmy he is back being more directly involved in journalism. The issues that prevent him from working at Catco’s competitors will long be resolved.

This show is still in the planning and needs a supporting cast. If not regular role for Jimmy an occasional reoccurring presence. I am not surprised that they did not send him back to Metropolis. If we see the Daily Planet during Crisis everyone would be wondering were he is.... though actor not under contract. I would not be surprised if Brooks informed Jimmy having his own life goal not just going back to his old job.

But nothing stopping him from visiting his old friends later. Which would likely be a more meaningful role as a guest than his usual regular status with little tomdo on Supergirl has been.

I imagine this will shoot in Vancouver but it would be great to do anything to get Cat Grant for an appearance. It’s been way too long with out her on Supergirl.

I wonder who they'll get to play Perry White?
What kind of character could we get the supporting cast? If they're still alive here, I'm thinking his Clarks parents would probably be recurring characters. Then we could have the other staff members of the Daily Planet like Ron Troupe or Steve Lombard.
As for a tech support/scientist character Emil Hamilton or John Henry Irons/Steel could be good choices. It could be an opportunity to redeem Steel after the disastrous movie.

I hope they remember that this is later in Superman's life, so they could cast an older actor. They went a bit young with Lois, so hopefully that won't set a pattern.

Really, this should be different from your standard Superman ensemble, because Clark & Lois are already a couple with a son, Jimmy and Cat have both long since moved on, and Perry's probably close to retirement age by now. And we've had a version of Maggie Sawyer already, and Inspector Henderson's on a different Earth. And the Cadmus characters are out because Cadmus is evil in this universe. So they would need to build a supporting cast from other characters. You mentioned Lombard, Troupe, and Irons. I don't know about Emil Hamilton, since we already had a gender-swapped Amelia Hamilton as a DEO doctor in Supergirl season 1 (though maybe they're siblings?). Hmm... Maybe Bibbo? Dan Turpin?

But there's a lack of female characters here. Lana Lang could be included; surprisingly, she's never yet been referenced in the Arrowverse. Chloe Sullivan's a possibility (and has been established to exist on Earth-38), though maybe she's too associated with the scandals around Allison Mack. If John Henry Irons is on board, Natasha Irons could come with him. How about Kristin Wells, Elliot S! Maggin's Superwoman from the future (and a descendant of Jimmy Olsen)? Or -- ooh, how about Lori Lemaris?

There's also kind of a villain problem, since so many of the big Superman villains have been used as Supergirl foes that had no history with Superman. Maybe Lex will be a regular? But that still leaves a lot of openings for other baddies.

^ Chloe? Oooooooh, I love that idea. Absolutely no reason the character can't have a life beyond Allison Mack. Every other prominent "Superman" character has been played by multiple actors, why not her? And her existence has already been established as a friend of Clark's in the Arrowverse.
