Not their longest drought though.
1964 to 1976 ----- 11 years
1981 to 1996 ------ 14 years
I realize it's not their longest drought, but you can at least look at the 1960s as a whole and say, "Hey, the Yankees made it to the World Series this time and that time." When they look back at the WS from the 2010s, the Yankees will be absent. Which is fine with me; just because they've won nearly a quarter of all the World Series ever played doesn't mean they have some sort of inside track or get it by virtue of the Divine Right of Kings. It's nice to see some other teams getting the love.

Yeah, and I'm not happy about that, but there's no sense griping about it. What's done is done; just wait for next year.

Next year is going to be rough for them, I feel. The Yankees don’t have a lot of money coming off the books. Judge and Sanchez are entering arbitration, and they wasted Judge's cheap pre-arb years resetting their luxury tax status. They still have to replace CC, and then either re-sign or replace Didi, Encarnacion, Gardner, Betances, Romine and Chapman (if he opts out). Bearing in mind that Hank and Hal Steinbrenner treat the team as a revenue center and aren't as blindingly obsessed with winning a World Series as their father was--remember, these are owners who are more concerned about payroll three, four, five years down the line, as if we have any idea what the team will look like then, and as though the team doesn't print money--the team could look very different in 2020.

The Astro's are the choice of our Galactic Overlords and it would be wise to support them. :)

No, you just do that whenever anyone discusses the Patriots and their fans. ;)

Our beloved Pats are still tied with the Steelers with the most SB wins ever. The Yankees still has more than twice the wins than the next two combined (The Cards and our Red Sox)..

Eh, I'll bite. So no, I don't think any part of the Patriots predictions involve 'deserving' it, or that they should win because they won a bunch of times in the 1920s. Majority of the Patriots predictions of success are built upon players and coaches that are both ALIVE and currently PLAYING for the team.

I mean, call people a homer for predicting that the Pats will make it to at least the AFC Championship Game, if not the Superbowl, but since they've play in what? The last 8 AFC Championship Games in a row, seems like a relatively safe limb to climb out on.

The argument is a lot less about how winning a lot 90+ years ago means you deserve it now, and more about how the current team is on an unprecedented run and doesn't appear to have dropped off enough to make people think it's over. "Because Brady and Belichick" is a different argument than "Because Pinstripes", no matter how much it burns your ass.

Yankees fans should be proud that their team has far and away the most World Series wins ever. They should also realize that what happened in the past means jack squat in terms of their chances of winning more in the present/future. Now of course, not all Yankees fans are entitled assholes. I've known some entirely reasonable Yankees fans, as well as some assholes. Winning inevitably turns a segment of the fan base, of any sports team, into assholes. That's just what happens.

All true, although will say that to an extent, it's as much perception as anything. Some Yankees fans (and yes, Pats fans) are certainly assholes. but I'd say that just as much, people WANT to perceive them that way whether they are acting that way or not, so winning breeds contempt and whatnot. The new Yorker 'in your face' mentality probably amplifies it, though.

Society turns on the underdog pretty quickly lately. They love you when you're scrappy and hungry, but the second you start winning, you're old news and they hate you for it; they're ready for the new underdog. Patriots just overstayed their welcome (by about a decade plus at this point), and the Yankees are still trading on ancient history and implying it's relevant to 2019 instead of 1929.
