Star Trek: The Experience closed in 2008, it was rumoured to reopen at Neonopoli but alas it never happened.James Cawley has his official 'Original Series Set Tour' in upstate New York and in Germany there's an 'Operation Enterprise' ride.

But what if there was a new permenant Experience? The original consisted of a museum, two rides (one that took guests onto the Enterprise-D to face Klingons; and another set on a space station where Voyager helped battle the Borg); plus the DS9 Promenade and Quar'ks Bar and Restaurant.

Star Trek though is a lot bigger than TNG/DS9 and VOY; TOS sems to sell the most, plus there are now new shows in production, plus we've had the quite popular JJ movies in between.

What would you like to see if it were to happen? Would it be a success? Where would be a good venue? Vegas or elsewhere?

Disney is building a Star Wars themed hotel. I’d love to see someone build a Star Trek one. The hotel could have different wings representative of the show with each wing having a show-based attraction and restaurant!

I'd love to see a Star Trek themed hotel. And I agree that different wings/floors representative of a different show/era. For me, having a promenade and Quark's are musts. Having other lounges, like Ten Forward on the 10-th floor on the front of the hotel, would be good too. Maybe even a Café Neelix or something. Seems like having it in Vegas would make the most sense.

Having a ride or two might be good. Also, either having various museums (a la The First Duty exhibit at SDCC) would be cool. If nothing else, having various props around the place would be cool.

    OK think I got it

    STAR TREK:
    THE HOTEL

    A Quark's themed restaurant
    A Ten Forward bar
    Starbase One smaller restaurant
    Risa-themed bar
    Deep Space Station K7
    Voyager's galley.

    There are lots of ideas.

These venues would be in different parts of the hotel (quite big, at least 4 or 5 stars!)

    * You could walk from K7 through an airlock onto the Enterprise NCC-1701 - photo ops on the bridge
    * Ten Forward the Enterprise-D - you could recreate the 'Klingon Encounter' ride or the 'Operation Enterprise' thing
    * Quark's Bar would be a replica of the Experience - leading onto the Promenade shopping area
    * Maybe the lobby could be Starfleet Headquarters and there could be related activities
    * A movie theater where you can go watch episodes or movies

An event or 'ride'/walkthrough could be a time travel thing where you visit all of these different areas. How could you represent Discovery, think I've got all the other shows covered.

I like the idea of you actually entering the world, rather than just a themed hotel. Like Disney are doing with Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Maybe the idea of this is Starfleet Academy in the future - the reason each area is a different part of history is to teach students (guests) the history of Starfleet. Maybe each 'zone' is entered through an Iconian Gateway/Guardian of Forever of sorts? That could bring in the Kelvin Timeline - a faulty gateway would take you into a parallel universe.

You'd have the Captain Kirk Suite; Admiral Picard's Suite (complete with Tea, Earl Grey, Hot) and of cvcourse a Paris themed President's Suite.

I think you are greatly overestimating the commercial viability of something like a hotel...

I went to the Experience in Las Vegas 4 times during its run. It definitely was a Trekkie's Paradise.

I can almost taste the Warp Core Breach right now...

I’m sure I read that Paramount are building a theme park in London that will have a Trek section.

reopen STE in LV but as 'Star Trek: The Original Movies Experience' (I-VI nothing else)

so Movie museum with all the various props, costumes, models from I-VI, a recreation of the NCC-1701 bridge, corridors, engine room, and transporter room (that can also alternate as 1701-A) with 4 immersive rides that can alternate with the 2 Enterprise sets/actors in applicable costumes (TMP: Voyage into Vger, Trek II: Battle in the Mutara Nebula, Trek III: Escape from Genesis, Trek VI: Battle for Khitomer), plus the Trek III cantina bar & restaurant

(also at a later date a Klingon set could be introduced – bridge/corridors/transporter room for ride Trek IV: Voyage to the Future )

Pretty specific. If they were going to do anything movie-wise, it would be the Kelvin era, and even that is getting outdated.

The Berman era was still going strong when the original Experience launched, so it made sense as a prime locale for the story. Discovery is present Star Trek, but it will soon be joined by Picard, Lower Decks, and then a ton-load of other properties, each with differing styles, looks, and settings.

Star Trek isn't a singular, popular entity, at the moment. The only thing that would make the most sense would be some time-travelling adventure across the current and former shows.

Or maybe just a TOS experience on the original Enterprise.

That makes more sense than basing the whole thing on Trek. Transformers and Mission Impossible could offer some interesting possibilities for exhibits/experiences/whatever.

I’ve got very happy memories of the Vegas location. You can still see the faded paint outlining where the exterior sign was. Sad.
