There's a big "event" planned to storm it that's meant to be a joke, but there's a potential that some people will show up to really do it.No. Why the hell would I want to do that?![]()

That's a fair point. I was disappointed because the first I had heard of it wasn't that it was Area 51, but just "a government facility," and of course people talking about overrunning a government facility piqued my interest. I wondered whether people were going to mobilize and attempt to rescue people from the camps. Of course, then I found out it was a joke about raiding Area 51, and the memes are all over the place now. I get it, and for me in any other circumstance it would be funny. And my point was that you were making an assumption that the stupid Area 51 prank and the immigrant concentration camps were linked and that one was being dismissive and disrespectful of the other when it's just an unrelated joke.
For the reasons you (and I) pointed out above, launching such raids on the concentration camps as a serious plan would be dangerous (both to the raiders and to the children), impractical / ineffective at ending the program, wind up with the people behind the raids going to prison, and most likely with even more drastic and draconian conditions for the children as a result. For the time being, the legal options opposing the camps are still the best ones.
It's depressing, yes, and a tragedy every minute these camps remain open, but as well meaning as the intentions may be, I don't think we're quite at the storm the gates in violent uprising stage just yet. It's not the best option for either the children or the protestors at this time, IMO.
Maybe the people wishing to raid Area 51 are seeking extra-terrestrial salvation from this fear-tattooed world...
What depresses me is the sudden desire to rush Area 51, while real concentration camps filled with tens of thousands of immigrant men, women, and children, exist.

I guess where it got my hopes up and dashed them soured the joke for me. It's not that I want people to get hurt liberating innocents from these camps, I just thought for a moment we'd gathered the collective will to realize that we are more powerful than they are, and that we can stop this if we work together. Right now, there are a thousand Jewish people protesting outside of various concentration camps, and it's so wonderful to see them fighting so hard to right an injustice. Then there were the Lights For Liberty demonstrations, and for just a moment it seemed people had seen enough, they wanted to act! So yeah, the disappointment outweighed any enjoyment I could have found in the joke.
It's just way too hot to be out there. Miserable, hot, no water.I'm thousands of miles away, and I'm afraid of snakes, so it's a no from me
Sorry is there a correlation between Space Martians and people who break the law?![]()
By your own admission you choose to remain willfully ignorant of news that's not from your immediate surroundings, yet for some reason you always feel the need to make snarky and dismissive remarks towards others who actually do educate themselves and care about current national and international events in the news. You should stop doing that. It's rude and smacks of trying to cause a problem.I have not heard of concentration camps.
Although we don't get information from many places most notably North Korea and China, I just can't imagine Jews or anyone protesting in North Korea
As for sovereign nations, any and all nations, being able to dictate who enters their country, I just don't see a problem with that.
As for Area 51, good luck with anyone thinking they are going to sneak in their.
The desert in the middle of summer.
I tried for several years to pay attention and be concerned, but I've come to my senses now. I pretty much ignore everything, unless it's occurring within say my current surroundings.
Someone may think this or that about, as above, something in Colorado or at the US/Mexico border or Sweden or France or China, but unless you live there, you are only getting 1/623th of the story. (Or less) Even with research then possibly you might be at 1/250th of the story.
You watch any of the stupid "news" channels and they want to present the issue in 1 minute 17 seconds before the commercial break. That's not enough time for anything.
I don't think it's ever fair to spout off about an issue that 'you' have minimal to almost zero knowledge of.
Sounds like it's something you enjoy doing.
So you work it in very well.
For me it sounds like work.
I try to Just try to keep with information I have experience with or from where I live or lived. I don't mind hearing or seeing about the other information but unless I minored in it college at the very least, I don't feel informed enough to really feel I know what the issues are.

And I wasn't commenting to you.
