Picard Poster

I did and it looks a little big to be a pit bull doesn’t it? That’s why my first thought was Bull Dog.

As for Picard having a dog, isn’t this 20 years after Nemesis? Maybe Picard had a change in artificial heart. Maybe it’s a service dog.

Some Pitbulls can get pretty chunky in their later years, even if they started out quite skinny. Take a look at Cesar Milan's dog Junior when he first got him compared to years later.

So, four pages in and we're all about the dog. Somehow, this feels typical and normal, and is therefore comforting.

Okay, I'll admit, I kind of understand your perspective on this. I was once bitten by a beagle and was therefore against seeing Porthos on Enterprise. Actually made me smile when we found out Scotty probably scattered his atoms across the quadrant.

Ah, but does it? As of now, four out of seven Captains have or have had dogs. Kirk had Butler, Picard now has this dog, Janeway had Mollie, and Archer had Porthos. So really, Sisko, Lorca and Pike are the outliers. Actually, Sisko might be the only Captain without a pet at all, Pike had a horse and Lorca had a tribble.

No, no Sisko's baseball was actually a semi-sentient but shy bit of Odo's goo. Frodo was the greatest pet in the Star Trek franchise.

It's not a planet. It's just light. It evokes the look of a planet, but obviously isn't a literal one.
Light doesn't do that unless it's coming around another planet or moon. I'm really thinking they've moved the Picard family vineyard off Earth.

Cool poster. Although I think it's kind of a bad sign that Patrick Stewart's personal hobbies and preferences are creeping into the production (once again). It's what got us the dune buggy chase in Nemesis and Action Hero Picard in all the movies.

It seems pretty obvious they haven't moved anything. If that planet is actually a thing in the show and not just a cool looking poster element designed to remind people that this show is also about space and not just wine-making, then all it means is that at some point Picard exists at a vineyard on an alien planet. It may or may not be his vineyard (or even a real vineyard at all, considering Trek history) and even if it is his vineyard, it obviously isn't the same one his family comes from since that's on Earth. There's absolutely no reason he couldn't decide in the multiple decades we haven't seen him that he doesn't want to live on Earth anymore.

I'm hoping for "Aramis," the only one of the Musketeers whose name hasn't appeared in Trek in some form (that I'm aware of).
Well, they are going to have an Aramis in the new show with Santiago Cabrera ;)

I bet Data's old neural network was been uploaded into the dog because it was removed from B4 because he kept sticking forks into a toasters and never learned, so they removed it and stuck it into Picards dog, hence we have Data the dog, and now all we need to see is if that vineyard has by chance a yellow bricked road runing through it. lol

A picture is a thousand words, but without those thousand words being said anyone can conjure up any thousand words they want.

It looks like a ripoff of STID's poster as made by someone jonesin' for teh juice, given Picard's evil scheming mind meld with Porthos' third stunt double. And Porthos would have given everyone on the ship allergic reactions given how they recirculate the air, but I digress.

That yellow orange pukefest is nowhere near as patronizing as this:

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

I know it's for Patrick Stewart's benefit, but Picard never really struck me as a dog person. Hopefully the show won't have any dune buggy chases.

Actually, they might, in a very special time travel episode and for the benefit of the pooch:

(as you can see, the wagon is bringing more wino kegs to his master, Jean-Lush Picard - works perfectly!)

Not Frodo, Proto ... as in 'plasm'.

Star Trek Picard: Episode 1 Synopsis

"After retired Admiral Picard's dog attacked and killed a toddler, Picard is forced to flee with the dog to Romulan space to escape extradition."

Seriously though, fuck pitbulls. This doesn't ruin the show or anything, but as someone who got chased up a car by a pitbull (for no other reason then it saw me walking by) this will be the one show I watch where I'll be actively hoping to see the dog (by this I mean the fictional character, not the dog actor, obviously) get killed. Also, don't start that "its the owner, not the dog" BS. Pitbull's are predisposed to attacking people and other animals even if they are raised by loving owners who pamper them. Literally the worst dog species possible to choose for the show, unless Picard is supposed to be a villain.

Like I said, the dog is a non factor in my potential enjoyment of this show, which I'm still excited for, but its a bizarre and stupid choice.

Oh get real. Is there nothing you won't complain about?

You really are talking a load of shit and generalising an entire breed. Every Pitbull i've had the joy of meeting has been a big loveable baby. Reason being their owners treated them well, socialised them with other other dogs and children. Dogs are like people, if they are raised poorly they will behave poorly. The breed doesn't matter. Also the dog is Patrick Stewart's how about you tweet him and tell him how much you'd like to see his dog dead, and see how he responds.

The only reason the dog seems weird to me is that I can't imagine people in the Trek future still cutting down an animal's ears. It's galling that we still do it now.
Maybe Picard rescued the dog from the former person who cropped the ears.
That would give the writers a chance to get the rescue narrative into the story.

So now that Picard has a pet pitbull, the obvious next step is to get Pitbull the rapper involved. Actually, thinking about it now, I'm imagining Pitbull's "I Know You Want Me" playing during Picard's dance moves in Insurrection.
