The least disliked episode of ENT - Season One

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
This is a game that we play every few years, and it's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, please leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Dear Doctor is out. Withholding a cure from a dying species because of "evolution" is disgusting, it shows a lack of morals and a complete ignorance of what evolution is and how it works.

I think "Fallen Hero" is a remarkably worthless trash episode. The plot logic can't withstand 2 seconds of scrutiny. And to waste an actress the caliber of Fionnula Flanagan on this hopelessly terrible script, my god! It would be the single most offensive wasting of a brilliant performer in all 749 episodes of Star Trek... if Virginia Madsen were not playing a love interest to Chakotay in the comically forgettable "Unforgettable." So this is second worst.

I'll knock Rogue Planet off the list. It's a dreadfully dull affair. Well the bits I remember at least.

Removing "Fortunate Son"
Because Travis is min numbingly dull
As are the Boomers
Just a completely pants episode

"Oasis" is such an empty bag of nothing. What the hell was the genesis of this? It's an exact remake of a DS9 episode, only with all the life and vitality drained from it. Why did they think it would be clever to cast Rene Auberjonois, when all it does is hang a lantern on the episodes mediocrity?

That was such a strange casting decision. Auberjonois was good but all it did was highlight that Odo was in a very similar episode in DS9.

So it's time to remove Civilization, another mediocre story with a pre-prime directive shiver down my spine.

I'm going to toss "Cold Front." The Temporal Cold War is definitely among the worst story arcs in all Trek. And Daniels was SUCH a bizarre take on a time traveler from the far, far future. There should have been SOME exotic or futuristic element to his persona. Daniels is so whitebread he feels like a supporting character from a CBS sitcom.

This is one I may never revisit. Knowing that's what they were shooting during 9/11, that's all it makes me think of. (This show and that are already weirdly scrambled in my mind, I lived in Manhattan at the time, downtown-ish with a view of the WTC. After abandoning Voyager, I was getting more and more excited by every Enterprise promo I saw over the summer... and then couldn't have cared less once it did premiere in late September. I would try to watch those early eps and I could just never pay attention, my eyes would always wander to the window)

The Andorian Incident is out. What business is it of Archer's if the Vulcans are spying on the Andorians? The idea is idiotic to the extreme.

Until now, I would have same reasoning only with three episodes and one episode is my all time favorite Trek episode and the comment says nothing. :shrug:Well on the other side, some comments bring new aspects, at least for me. I do not like the patronizing attitude based on politically correctness, moral, ethic whatsoever, since they are not universal. Just banal, imho :nyah:

Well, I choose Vox Sola: Story is not original, it could be an homage to 60's comics or TOS, could be done in a retro fashion, none of them. There is no social message or allegory, no entertainment/ thrill factor, no fun. I see no reason why this episode should ever exist. Even Vaughn Armstrong could not help.

Goodbye "Fusion"
Not only do we get emotional Vulcans, we get a fat one and a creepy mind rapist one
Not good for the image of the Vulcans at all

"SLEEPING DOGS" goes to sleep, like me when I see this episode.

This is already a tough game for me, since I find something to like in every episode. But as I ran through the list, the only ep that didn't immediately bring a favorite scene to mind was...Terra Nova. So I'll retire that one.

sekundant, lemme take a wild guess...Andorian Incident?

Strange new world, it feels like a dusted off Voyager season 1 script where starfleet and maquis tension (or Chakotay accusing Tom) would have been at the core after a few of them got stuck while collecting Leola roots. Or maybe it's a leftover DS9 script, exploring a planet in the Delta quadrant with some people distrusting Odo who had previously worked for the cardassians ... it's not a very interesting story.

I always love that after all the shit "The Naked Now" gets for using "the crew is put in an altered state by alien influence!" as only the SECOND EPISODE, Enterprise went and did the same thing with "Strange New World" as their THIRD EPISODE. (And they did at least improve on "Naked" -- "SNW" does manage to use it's conceit to actually reveal things about the characters, instead of just burying us in craziness)

Meanwhile, I so want to like "Detained", but all that Mayweather really drags it down. It's also a bit of a bummer missed opportunity, it shows how they really could have gone a different way with the Suliban and built them out in a more compelling fashion. But the Temporal Cold War smothers their potential, they never transcend Hired Goon plot functionality.
