Puts me in mind of Sainte Barbe, literally "Saint Beard" in English. The legend says that god made her beard grow very fast so that she would not be raped (By pillagers I guess). Here she's the patron saint of firemen and miners... I don't know if you guys have heard of her.
I wonder what god was doing the other millions of times when women were raped by countless assailants...

Yes, it seems it's a "French" Saint because your Patron Saint of firefighters is Saint Florian, who's likely not related to Sainte Barbe.

If only I’d paid more attention in French class, instead of transferring to German, for the incredibly flirty Beargit, but she was a hell of a tease. Taught me how to say I wear spectacles in German, one of only two German phrases I can remember.

Don't ask me how but I have a translator built-in in my Google Chrome, it gives me a translation of any page in pretty much any foreign tongue with a simple click. I've had it from the beginning, I think. It even works with Japanese or Malaysian or even languages I didn't know existed.
