We have a premiere date, and our first clip from Season 4, so I now seems like a good time to start a new thread.
The new season will pick up right where we left off with magic back, but now under The Library's (no not that Library) control, and with our heroes memories of magic having been wiped.

Ember wants the insolent little Janet to FIX THIS.

The season premiere is going to air on January 23rd.

I can see I'm going to have to rewatch the last few episodes before the new season begins.

We've gotten a whole bunch of new videos since the last posts.

    Season 4 Behind the Scenes

    Official Trailer

    Making Magic - Lord Fresh

    Making Magic - The Penthouse

There are also a couple teaser trailers, but they're just reedits of footage from the official trailer, so I'm just skipping them.

Damn, this season looks like it's going to be great.

Great season so far, I've found this season really compelling. The Q/Elliot stuff at the end of this most recent episode was greatly appreciated.

One great thing about this show is that they are more than happy to dig up whatever obscure reference or character from a previous season and just put it out there.

That said, holy smokes, I often find myself a little bit lost or confused. I did not rewatch, so whenever some obscure reference or character pops up, I'm clueless half the time.

Yeah, me too. Like, where is Kady now? I think I missed something.
This show has so much going on, it isn't difficult to fall behind.
And, the F**K count was around 5 for the last episode and maybe more for the previous one.

Both Magicians and Suits have been upping their cussing this year. Doesn't bother me in the least. I guess my ears perk up when I hear something though. Margo has had some epic female-centric cussing this season.

The Magicians is full of WTF moments, so I have no problem with them expressing it. It did seem to escalate though and become more noticeable. I love this show.

Yeah, this season has been great.
Hale Appleman has been great as The Monster in Eliot's body.
Loved Alice's time in the Library's prison, with her neighbor, fuckin' Santa Clause.
The episode before the last one gave us some interesting new insights into Eliot.
It was nice to see the main timeline's Penny one more time. I wonder why it's so important the 23 stays in our timeline? It sounds like he might have a big role to play in whatever events are to come.
I have a feeling that the hedges blowing up that library is going make to things get really ugly with the Library now.
So are all librarians, even in just regularly libraries, part of The Library?

This show always keeps me surprised and guessing. At least I found out what Kady was doing in the meantime. No possessed Elliot this week and finally Fen got something important to do. So was that really Harriet that Zelda saw in the mirror? And why does Zelda walk around with her elbows bent and her hands in the air all the time? What will Penny's promotion mean for him and the rest of the group?
If this show doesn't get another season, how will they ever tie up all the storylines?

Finally got caught up, and I am loving this season so far.
I never expected Zelda to actually get her own storyline, and not only did they give her on, but they've made her the most sympathetic she's been so far.
Last night's episode was awesome, the musical performances were great, and Summer Bishil gave the one of the best performances we have ever gotten on the show. The scene with her and hallucination Eliot in the tent was incredible.
I was just looking around on some of the cast members' Instagrams and Olivia Taylor Dudley has a horse names Artax, I just found that a bit funny for someone on a show like this.

I enjoyed Margo interacting with Elliott again, even if he was just a toad-induced hallucination. Nice Magicians musical episode. This show is SO entertaining,

It's amusing that they barely even tried to come up with excuses why Margo would hallucinate Kady and Dean Fogg; they obviously just wanted to include the two strongest singing voices.

Meanwhile, apparently divine omniscience does not extend to remembering one's password. That seemed a bit arbitrary.

Yeah, that really did feel like kind of a lame way to drag things out.

"Try not to Todd it up this time." LOL, poor Todd!
"A Florian Fucking Fish is a different kind of fish"
This show is so much fun!

When Quentin was trying to rediscover his pure, innocent love of Fillory, my thought was that that shouldn't be necessary; the goal was to feel true love for Fillory, and real love is complicated and painful, and often involves knowing the worst side of someone but still forgiving it -- much like Quentin did with Alice earlier. I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't make that thematic connection.

^ It kind of seemed that they did do that or am I missing something?

Okay, it's just you and me.
You know the worst part of getting exactly what you want?
    When it's not good enough.
    Then what do you do?

If this can't make me happy, then what would?
Fillory was supposed to mean something.
I was supposed to mean something here.
    But it's all... it's just... it's random.
It's so random that the only way to save my friends is to yell at a fucking plant!
Honestly, fuck Fillory for being so disappointing.
You know what, maybe I was better off just believing that it was fiction.
The idea of Fillory is what saved my life!
    This promise...that...people like me...
    People like me...
    Can somehow...
    Find an escape.
There has gotta be some power in that.
Shouldn't loving the idea of Fillory be enough?

I don't think "loving the idea" is the same thing I'm saying. I'm thinking about how mature love means accepting the flawed reality of the one you love rather than clinging to an abstract ideal. That's the breakthrough that Quentin made with regard to Alice earlier, so it would've been a nice resonance if the same thing had been the key at the end.

Ah, I see what you mean.

On a completely different tangent, I get a kick out of the terse, out-of-context episode descriptions this season.
"Quentin yells at a plant; Margo states at a fish."
"The gang talks to a book; Tick threatens to drink some water."
    "Margo hits her step count."
"Quentin eats a quesadilla; Kady and Zelda share a smoke."
    and so on

Yeah, the episode descriptions have been genius this season. Perfection.

For anyone that missed it, before the season 4 premiere back in January, SyFy renewed the show for a 5th season. So we're definitely getting more. (Sorry if that spoils anyone's expectations for the finale.)

Looks like we've got a big showdown coming next week, and if past history is anything to go by on this show, some bad things will happen.

I don't quite get why Margo didn't accompany them at the end. If the leaf didn't work, she still could have left her eyeball there to keep Josh alive. Though maybe we'll get a cool scene of the two of them storming in together.
