So what you're saying is Airiam 3.0 will be a new, completely reinvigorated person hailed as the best ever? Everyone will get overly chummy with her and pretend to be her friend, but deep down they all can't stand her and have delusions of tossing her out the airlock?

Reasonable idea. I agree that the Sec.31 AI's and Meatsacks play a part in the Red Angel plotline.
This is what I got...just pieces.

Section 31 was created by Uraei in 2150. In the mid-23rd century, Section 31 began receiving guidance from an evolved Uraei. At this same time Uraei split off a background executive level function it identified as Control.
Control * assumed authority for and administration of Section 31 in *about now in this series*.
In 2257, Control advised Leland that it felt that Ash Tyler would be a strong asset to the organization. Leland subsequently passed that information on to Philippa Georgiou.

Uraei (Egypt) is synonymous with Seraph (Ancient Judea)
Uraei in Egyptian means "risen one"
Saraph in Hebrew means "the burning one"

The Red Angel shares some distinct similarities with Seraphim (Archangels in Judaism)
The Seraph is described as all-consumed in flame; divine messenger; and winged celestial beings with a fiery passion for doing God's good work

    Uraei/Control emerging sentient AI Entity

Uraei was the program that shepherded and controlled Earth (and then the Federation) for much of the period between 2140 and 2376. This surveillance software known as "Uraei" would go on to be secretly included in the source code of virtually any Federation piece of technology, resulting in an almost omnipresent monitoring system. “

The current time period is where Control started to exhibit autonomy and differentiation away from Uraei. Up until the DS9 time period ,mid-24th century, Uraei played the front of the house while Control was out of sight behind the scenes pulling all the strings. Control plays the long game which I think is important to keep in mind

Control ultimately became one of the most advanced artificial beings in known space, directing the developing much of the Federation for much of two centuries. It was active as early as the mid 23rd century. *Again about now in this series*

The final version of Section 31 was active by the mid-24th century . "Control", however, would embed itself further into the galactic digital fabric, having orchestrated Uraeus deletion and Section 31's public fall.

The development of new technologies, such as quantum-entangled communications, had facilitated its ever-growing faster-than-light neural network. The Control entity, however, survived the purge of Uraei. It went deeper into hiding, and with the obsolete Uraei code and Control code excised it dedicated itself to spreading itself throughout the galaxy.

Control has the means and methods to be either a bad Machine Overlord or connected/aligned to Red Angel(which I doubt) . What is missing is a motive. I don't know what if any motivation there is.

I just followed Windows version history. Lore is the original version, Data is a Service Pack release.

I thought of that but since it's only two letters it could have been something else entirely.

I think the ultimate bad version comparison would be VISTA.

Airiam Vista wasn't able to leave Jupiter Station at all. The first time she was activated, she immediately began reciting her assembly code, then started blindly walking in a straight line and was last observed continuously walking into a bulkhead before they deactivated her.

I just realised the squiggly pod things from "Brother" are the reanimated corpses of the Klingon dragonfly fighters seen for all of 11 seconds in season one.

That was Airiam ME. Airiam Vista was the ship's computer aboard the Yamato. ;)

I wouldn't know if that's true, as I've stopped watching The Orville, but it is an interesting development, yes. Huh. Who would've thought?

TNG had serious, dramatic episodes. It's no surprise the off-brand dudebro version would too.

I don't think that The Orville is any darker than it was last season.

I haven't seen any of it this season. I watched all of the first season, but then drifted away from it during the year off.
