Apparently having darker irises actually does help shield your eyes against bright light, and makes it less likely you'll have eye damage in old age as a result. Basically nature's own sunglasses. Which explains why so few people have blue eyes in equatorial regions.

What has peeing in a corner got to do with Kirk sitting down on a brig toilet? That's like saying that someone getting into a cab on CSI is a callback to Taxi.

    Anyway, the episode:

Good, but not great. Basically I don't think it's great because while it was well made and a riveting ride, they more or less took the path of least resistance towards solving the issue. Nothing in this episode surprised me. I mean, at least they didn't have it all be a simulation/test, so there was no reset button and the stakes were real. But at the same time, it would have been nice if the plot threw something of a curveball.

    He was undercover.

The writers get extra points for not having Isaac acknowledge Ty's "I love you."

It would have been a tip off (to the Orville crew and the audience) that the Kaylons were far more aggressive than they appear.

I was referring to Gordon saying it was his first time attempting shuttle take off while in quantum drive. (Sulu landing the shuttle in the hangar bay.)

Topa is the same size as Tigh, but 5 times stronger.

Issac would have let Topa die?

Isaac tried to intercede for the ensign, who he didn't seem to really know.

Now we know that he's named after Newton and not Asimov.

Be honest: who wanted to see Ty get blasted when he ran around crying for Isaac? (raises hand)

I had two thoughts when Isaac sent out the EM pulse through the ship.
    1. Couldn't he have isolated the bridge to avoid being deactivated?
    2. Wouldn't it have shorted out all the systems throughout the ship as well?

I GOT MY SPACE BATTLE AND IT WAS AMAZING. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

That was movie quality stuff, and I think that rivaled some of the best space battles I've seen (Sacrifice of Angels, Die is Cast, the Star Wars battle over Endor) ever. That was damn exciting from start to finish, and yeah McFarlene did stick the landing. There isn't a reset, and not all is forgiven. I have to say that two parter was fantastic.

Does this mean Tony Almeida gets to come back to life at a later date as the bad guy?

Great episode though it was pretty predictable. The space battle was awesome but it really tired me out. It's a good tired though.

Who did he play again? Was he the Krill Captain?

He was the captain of the first Union ship that got destroyed. Might've had one minute of total screentime.

I'm looking forward to the score for this season to come out on CD. The music last week and this week was really good. All those low key episodes early on make sense now after this episode. They were saving up for this 2 parter.

I wonder what the budget is for this show. That entire sequence must have been really really expensive to shoot.
