MLB Offseason 2018-19: SIGN KIMBREL AND KEUCHEL YOU FUCKS

And Blue Jays Twitter/Facebook is set ablaze by fans.

A local radio host, Arash Madani, made an excellent point today. The majority of fans are "chasing ghosts." The versions of Tulo, Donaldson, Edwin Encarnación and Jose Bautista were totally different between the two ALCS runs of 2015 and 2016 and when they made their eventual exits from Toronto. If you check any social media after the Jays make a move, it is shitting all over Shapiro and Atkins, when really, they just happened to take over when age caught up with the core.

At the end of the day, Tulo wasn't going to be the everyday SS on this team (they've already identified Lourdes Gurriel Jr. in that role). If he was healthy, he was expecting to play and would be a disruptive force for the team. Alex Anthopoulos (who is regarding as some kind of God for selling the farm for those two runs) acquired the contract and the only way to keep him from messing up the locker room is to move him now. I don't know how you can blame Shapiro or Atkins for releasing a guy who hasn't played in almost two years.

Troy Tulowitzki has signed with the Yankees.

Well when he was with the Rockies, he made some not-so-veiled references about a desire to play for the Yankees. Glad he made it there finally, hopefully he won't sprain his wrist while signing the contract.

Yeah, unfortunately I think Tulo is cooked. That being said, it's a low-risk / high-reward flyer for the Yankees to take, since they're only on the hook for the league minimum and Toronto is paying the rest of his $20 million salary. If he gets hurt or sucks donkey dick, the Yankees can cut him and they won't bat an eye at eating $535,000. But the dude's 34, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he has a dead cat bounce season.

The Rays are closing off the upper deck of the Trop, eliminating about 10,000 seats. If they can keep the cameramen from pointing their cameras up, it should look pretty full.

Of course they're selling it as a "more inimate" experience. I'm sure the vendors will appreciate not having to cover so much ground for very few sales.

Maybe they could go to Miami and get the Dinger Machine™ to compete the decor :guffaw:

@Timby will drive the truck.

I AM SO THERE GIRLFRIEND

Edit: I actually didn't mind the Trop too much when I saw a game there a few years back. Getting there was a bit of a pain, but nothing like, for example, all the shit you had to do to get to Turner Field. It also didn't just suck out loud like New Comiskey, which is just miserable in about every respect. The biggest issue with the Trop is the dome.

Any stadium where a fly ball in play can hit the rafters, affecting play, can't be bad right? Right??

MLB had revenues of $10.3 billion in 2018.

The players' share of that revenue is the lowest it's been in decades.

Bauer is a regressive jackass who really hates being called out on his shit. This kid took a jab at him for not having a World Series ring, and then he went scorched-earth.

Why would that bother him? He got a ring for being on the 2016 team, didn’t he? The last time I checked, both teams got WS rings.

Jon Heyman says that Machado wants to play for the Yankees, but is holding out for a $300+ million contract, and the White Sox and Phillies haven't come anywhere near that number, while the Yankees have yet to make an official offer.

I have to think at this point Machado and Harper are playing chicken against one another. They're both once-in-a-generation players with a chance to make more money than God and their camps are waiting for the other to set the market.
