Series 11 News & Spoilers

She’s going to be a great ambassador for the show.
I feel like we're really lucky that she is in the role! And, I haven't even seen an episode yet!
My thoughts exactly. She has fully embraced the show and what it means not just for her, but also all the young girls and boys who might watch the show with her as The Doctor. Plus, she's demonstrated repeatedly that she's great with the longterm fans.

Like Mr Awe said, I feel like we struck gold with her casting and the new season hasn't even started!

^ Which means 1:45pm in North America (Eastern time), on BBC America -- haven't heard yet if Space here in Canada is doing the simultaneous premiere thing as well, or just waiting till the regular time slot at 8 or 9.

That's standard issue at the BBC. I forget the reason but there's a decent enough explanation.

Who starts a show 45 minutes after a hour starts? Why not 6:00 or 6:30 or 7:00? I think the only show I can recall doing that was reruns of "Robot Chicken"

If i remember correctly back in the day Who was on a 18:45 right after Basil Brush from the late 70s into the early 80s, it was then moved to a Monday night during the mid 80s, but one thing Who has never been through it's entire run is stable on one time slot, BBC always seem to love to bounce it about all over the place, so at least time slot wise it has kept to the original format. lol

The BBC.

What’s so special about the top or bottom of the hour?

Just because America does it that way doesn’t mean everyone every where has to.

I don't know. It just seems like a natural fit. If a show lasts a hour give one whole hour to it. 30 minute show give it a 30 minute slot. Just seems more simple to keep track of when something starts and ends. Granted these days it proably doesn't mean much because most people will just stream it later or use a DVR I suspect.

It's a natural fit because that's what you have grown up with.

Well yes that but it also just seems t have more symmetry. Unless all shows sort of run on the same kind of system. One thing I have noticed though is will never see a show that starts at 7:08 or 4:33 etc. It's like you start at the beginning at the hour and if you want to do something different you only break it down in blocks of 15. Such as 7:15,7:30,7:45.8:00. I do find it kind of strange how here in America "The Simpsons" I think have started at 6:00 or 6:30 and Futurama had that as well. For a network show to not air in primetime is pretty unusual unless it was kid stuff back in the day like "Saved By the Bell."

I always thought TV timeslots are calculated to fit in advertising. Programs used to be 50 minutes long to allow 10 minutes for advertising then it became 40 or 43 minutes to fit in 15 minutes of ads. So program schedules adapt to fit that in.

I watch General Hospital on Hulu....35-36 minutes.

How is an opinion more or less accurate?

I guess they aren't. Of course people do get their favorite critics overtime. Back in the day who didn't like SIskel and Ebert. Today I like MovieBob and Kevin Smith and was also into What the Flick. Shame it got closed down.
