Star Trek: Short Treks

I'm looking forward to Calypso.

Not for nothing, but the Calypso may have been the name of the captain's yacht on Ent-D. this one apparently takes place aboard an abandoned ship. Calypso would probably by on Veridian 3 with D's saucer.

Cousteau...not Calypso. Named after the famous ocean explorer.

There were two yachts, supposedly - one for the E-D, one for the E-E. We only saw the latter, and her dedication plaque said Cousteau. But Calypso is what Patrick Stewart suggested applied to the never-seen former.

To be sure, we can't really tell whether the E-D had a yacht. None was ever mentioned, nor shown. And the supposed corresponding feature on the E-D doesn't look like anything much (and is an energy beam emitter in the original version of "Encounter at Farpoint", until they fixed the VFX to match the dialogue of the beam actually coming from the phasers).

Canonically no, but Probert did design it, and I think it might be labelled as such on the Engineering MSD.

Harry Mudd? Really...? :/

They should have done one that is Enterprise-focused to set up this season.
^^^
Probably too expensive. I know they have a photo of Burnham ostensibly on the 1701 - but for example, I doubt they will show the 1701 Bridge or any complex, expensive set - which would be required for a 1701 short.

Showing the 1701 bridge would cause brain hemorrhages as fandamentalists began cursing their screens, pounding out angry replies on you tube and causing jellybean sales to spike.

Unless the rumours about the separate Pike series were true and they need to build those sets regardless.

Pay attention to the answer to the question at 1:45+ in the above video. All the rumors (Picard returning, TNG related content, 'Khan mini-series', etc.) are basically just that: IE Unfounded rumors.

Yes, there will probably be more Star Trek media stuff on CBSAA. No, they really haven't hammered out exactly what that will be yet - they're still talking/formulating what they want to do.

Animated series is in talks, nothing else is confirmed. I wouldn't expect them to say anything else.
What I get from this we may get a Trek comedy at some point. :techman:

Only because I'm in the middle of watching Orange Is the New Black Season 6 right now...

... I want to see a mini-series that takes place during Burnham's six-month stint in prison. Co-starring Janeway's convicted great-grandmother.

Off-Topic thoughts about OITNB S6 so far: A slow, twisted burn. They've set up a new normal. Well, whatever passes for "normal" in prison. I like the new inmates and guards. Some of the guards are total assholes, but that's to be expected. For Voyager fans: some of Kate Mulgrew's best acting ever is on display here. If you like both shows, you won't be disappointed.

includes new aliens to canon

Oh good, so they are now specifying which aliens are canon and which are not. Good to know!
I hereby move to strike STD Klingons from canon (and their ships too). Who will second?

Yes they can do that, it's their show. Anyway, they probably mean they'll feature a race previously unseen on screen.

Uh no. It means aliens we haven't seen before.
