So.....What's Your Theory on the Anomalies?

Loved the MU storyline last season, but time to move into new territory.

I doubt that will happen. They seem fairly addicted to using TOS as a crutch in their storytelling. Whether that is the choice of the writers or CBS is anyone's guess? But it is where we are at.

I like the TOS callbacks, though. It feels like an extension of the original story...which is the whole point for telling it.

I much prefer it to the other series that, for the most part, pretended the whole thing never happened.

I actually just meant "new territory" away from MU or alternate universes. That was just played out.

I'd rather they strike their own path, then use the backstory after they've grown their own, like the other series did. The way they are proceeding makes the universe feel very small to me.

Everyone's mileage may vary.

Side effect of using the Spore Drive. The final nail in the coffin for that experiment. That's why Pike needs the Disco.

It is dangerous to assume only Star Trek fans are watching.

Are Trek fans the only ones watching? No. Do they likely make up a significant portion? Yes. Plus, we see Pike as captain of the Enterprise. It isn't like they are trying to hide his background.

Yes, likely. But, that doesn't mean all Trek fans know Pike. I certainly know Trek fans (and have written in RPGs with them) who don't know Pike.
Indeed. No real Star Trek fan would watch Discovery!
