So.....What's Your Theory on the Anomalies?

Space unicorns can. It's based on real science because Hubble telescope took photos of Horsehead Nebula. And Mushrooms cannot teleport anything.
Hmmm...this argument appears dubious for some reason.

Yes. I really hope they ditch it soon and I can forget it ever happened. Dodgy science aside, it was a really unwise move to introduce this sort of superdrive in a prequel.
Engage.

Unicorns cannot live in space. Spore drive has more meaning (in my opinion). But, regardless, the spore drive is an issue from a canon POV and the sooner it is ditched the sooner people can gripe about other canon issues.

It isn't a canon issue. It is canon, full stop. It is an issue being fitted into the Prime timeline. Well, it isn't an issue for me. For the writers, it is an issue because they've introduced something into the Prime timeline that pretty much makes the rest of the series moot. Especially Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

Thank you for the clarification. That was my overall point and I appreciate your stating it better than I. I was not question its canoncity any more than I question Warp factor from TOS to TNG to VOY.

There's gonna be some new alien race introduced that everyone thinks are a myth, and they're gonna do this big science VS faith theme.

The anomalies are tied to that, and so is Burnham's dull speech at the beginning of the trailer.. and the shot of that angel-like alien.

Reposting what I said in the teaser trailer thread:

I think they may be setting up a merge of the Kelvinverse and the Primeverse.

Those sure looked a hell of a lot like Red Matter detonations in that region of space where they were going to investigate the galaxy-threatening emergency situation. And it's somehow tied to YoungPrimeSpock in a way and caused his leave of absence. What if the death of OldPrimeSpock in the Kelvinverse somehow caused a psychic connection to form through the Mycelial Network underlying the universe and connecting all points in time and space, including alternate universes, and that summoned YoungPrimeSpock to the source of the Red Matter events, much like V'Ger would later call to him from across the galaxy?

Much like how Abrams said the ripples from the event that formed the Kelvinverse traveled both forwards and backwards through time, it could be used as a justification for the aesthetic and historical changes in DSC and bring the two disparate timelines into alignment, simplifying things and allowing people from both universes to appear without having to create any more elaborate Treknobbable justifications to do so after this initial event.

I think it's basically setting up the Trek version of Crisis on Infinite Earths. Of course, I'm just talking out of my ass here and may be reading too much into it, but with all the Kelvinverse nods (the Kelvinverse warp effect, Pike saying "hit it!", the Red Matter supernova-like explosions, and the connection that draws in PrimeSpock) that was the first vibe I was getting from the trailer.

The 8 foot tall spider legged humanoid doesn't really fit that though

They make me think of the time distortion events from "The Alternative Factor." Maybe they are gateways to alternate universes? It will be interesting to find out.

Plus, Red Matter blackholes had light blue luminous rings with utter blackness inside.

These things are red with some weird bright core, not even an open apeture. And that smaller doorway Burnham sees might be one of many smaller openings they can project.

If anything, it's more like the expanse from the Sphere Builders space superimposing over ours in Enterprise.

Maybe a species that lives in the Mycelial Network, Discovery's spore drive has harmed them and they are attempting to communicate / retaliate? That's where my mind went when I read "bleed through."
By bleed through, I was invoking a wound bleed as much as a colour bleed. The spore drive damaged the fabric of reality, and one existence can leak through the cracks in to another.

It needn’t be a conscious threat, more like a hole in the dam that needs a finger to plug it. What if the red dots are the same star showing through multiple cracks in space time?

Wild unfounded speculation of course, but I would rather see some none vengeance/conquest stories. Space is dangerous and interesting enough without falling back on the honked off bad guy cliche. In Trek, that cupboard isn’t just bare, the hinges are worn out too.

I hope it's not more "alternate realities" to be honest. Loved the MU storyline last season, but time to move into new territory.
