Question: What If Pike Episode Ratings Phenomenally Exceed Non-Pike/ Discovery Episodes?

If the ratings for the upcoming Discovery/Pike episodes phenomenally exceed non-Pike Discovery episodes in season two, I wonder if the network execs will think about a Pike spin-off featuring the crew of USS Enterprise? It's a good question because you know people all over are going to tune in to see a famous captain in command of the USS Enterprise.

It's possible. CBSAA will want to pad out the year with content that keeps Discovery fans interested if they can.

Pike isn't a big name like Spock, though. You'll get an uptick for the premiere because people want to see what the inside of the Enterprise is like but, after that, it'll wear off. I don't think whatever spike they'd get with subscriptions for the premiere would last beyond, "I want to see what they did to the Enterprise!"

I think they need to focus on the show they’re currently producing instead of thinking about spinoffs.

Yea but if the ratings rapidly decline after the Pike episodes end and viewers get Pike depression and want more, I think the CBS execs will be forced with a decision to make.

CBS are already considering spin-off series'. The two rumoured plots I've heard are Khan's exile on Ceti Alpha V and Pike's Enterprise.

I'm hoping they go for quality over quantity.

Pike’s Enterprise series has probably already occurred to them, but they can now balance the ardent reactionary fan vitriol against the subscriber figures and make an informed decision.

I hope they go for it.

Then they should cancel everything, and start a Captain Worf series.

Change my mind.
Unless they set a captain Worf show on the star track Enterprise then nobody who don’t know Star track will watch it. People know what the star track Enterprise looks like and they’ll only watch it cos of that - that’s why they put it in the DSC season finale. So unless Worf is put in command of the Enterprise then nobody’s gonna watch it. Also nobody will be able to say “Klingons on the starboard bow” because Worf is a Klingon. The popular culture references to Star Trek won’t be available in a Worf show - nobody will have a clue what’s going on.
- CBS execs.

(Also if you read that in the voice of mr plinkett, I’d like that)

But seriously a captain Worf show could work - but it would have to be done very carefully. More like DS9 and less like DSC. Something about Klingon culture and intrigue - like game of thrones. How that would work with Worf being captain of a starfleet ship is a different story. I don’t think the people behind DSC would be able to come up with a compelling story for Worf (unless he ends up meeting regent Worf and they have to fight intendant Kira for half a dozen episodes while making Easter egg references to better episodes elsewhere in the franchise).

I don't see why he and his crew can't just be recurring characters.
This is what I'm expecting anyways.

I actually read it in a John Wayne type voice.

So, more 9 instead of more C? ;)

Look, there is joke in there somewhere.
Captain Worf and Admiral Sulu. The best of both worlds! :p
You forgot Janeway in there. Fail!

;)

IMO, if the do a spin-off, they should go and do an anthology series. Season 1 can be Pike's Enterprise, maybe season 2 Khan on Ceti Alpha V. Season 3 something in the 24th century, and so on in that order.

Not sure why Pike, of all characters would draw in viewers. He's only marginally less obscure than the likes of Harry Kim and Hoshi.

No one had even heard of Burnham the mutineer before discovery but the viewers still came.

A Pike series would have Pike, as seen in two of the reboot movies and oft lampooned as the guy in the black chair and the two flashes for no, and it would have Spock, and it would have the Enterprise.

I can see how a well edited teaser would grab the viewers.

How about the show has both of them -- Dorn and Takei are cast, of course -- and it all takes place in an old folks home. It was the fate given for Gaff (Edward James Olmos) in Blade Runner 2049, so why not? :barf:
