Spoilers Avengers: Infinity War grade and discussion thread

I have tickets for Thursday and Friday nights!
So pumped for tomorrow. I brought my ticket over a month ago. Shall be a packed cinema. Lots of sessions have sold out.
Variety has a Twitter round-up of reviews from last night's premiere and the general consensus sounds pretty promising, with the largest criticism being if you didn't like Civil War, you'll probably won't like Infinity War (not surprising honestly). The review embargo is up until 3 p.m. today (which seems a bit silly) so we'll have to wait a little longer for larger imoressions.
Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to share that Thanos creator Jim Starlin is pretty happy with the film:
The Avengers the Infinity War! I really have to watch what I say here, so as to not spoil the many surprises this film holds (even for me). So let me stick with generalities, with a few specifics tossed in at the end, concerning Josh Brolin. Visually spectacular, as are all the Marvel movies. But this film hits emotional depths few of the others have even come close to, yet humor takes center stage at all the rights moments. There are a couple times my chest constricted from what I was seeing, making me want to cry. You’ll recognize those instances when you watch the film. Brolin is an incredible Thanos, moving and emoting just as I tried to portray him in the comics. The movie’s two and a half running time shoots past nearly unnoticed. The thing is though, I feel I’m going to have to view the film a number of more times before I get a solid grip on just how good it is. Still at that rather stunned point. Yes, I know my opinion should be considered a bit biased, because of my connection to the production but the Russos, Markus, McFeely and everyone else involved in this film get my heartfelt thanks for bringping everyone’s favorite Titan to life in the best way possible, in a jaw-droppingly awesome fashion. Ten out of ten thumbs up. BTW: a special thanks to Ryan Potter for all his help at the after party.

Amazing, intense, incredible and brutal. Loved the comedy and a lot of the interaction between characters that haven't met before. Need to see it again, as I think it's the best Marvel movie so far. It's A+!
That doesn't make me feel good, if you regard it on the same level as "Civil War".
Critics have said that if you didn't like Civil War you will hate this one.
Luckily most people loved Civil War so BRING IT ON BABY!!! WOOOHOOOOO
I think the Civil War comparison is only half right. If you didn't like Civil War because of the number of characters being juggled, then obviously, you won't like this any better. If you didn't like it because of the general style, then maybe also (although Infinity War was not exactly the same in that sense either - this is a much more epic, and more brutal story).
But most of the other complaints I remember seeing about Civil War don't really apply to this one, imo. I love them both, but I think this one is definitely even better, smoother, more polished and will probably be more accessible to more people.
The only other issue I can think of that the two movies really do share is the fact that much is dependant on your knowledge of ongoing storylines/character arcs. This movie really is the culmination of this Cinematic Universe, so if you go in expecting anything even remotely similar to a stand-alone story, you'll not be happy.
As to the movie itself - easily the best marvel movie yet. Probably my new favorite superhero movie, A+ all the way.

I'm expecting it's because of a costume reveal that they don't want to spoil in promotional images.
Right, it's not like this is a one-time-only thing and it won't be around for weeks in the theater and then forever on DVD, cable, and streaming.
This is kinda why I think some of the high-end estimates of the opening weekend gross are ridonculous, because they're assuming that everyone who wants to see the film will see it this weekend and that the ticket presales won't reduce the demand for tickets at the window. (For a contest at work on the opening weekend US domestic gross, I went for the low end of estimates -- $223 million -- and I still think I may have gone too high.) In some ways, the hype will actually keep people away from the theaters, because some people won't want to see a movie that crowded.
Well, OTOH ticket presales have probably lessened the "it's too crowded opening night" effect - especially with the introduction of reserved seating into some cineplexes. It's not like you have to go wait in line and take a chance on not getting tickets anyway - there are so many seats, you buy online, go to Chipotle's and show up at the theater forty-five minutes before the movie. So, every opening night of every successful blockbuster is the same now, right?
Wow, that's obnoxious. I'm glad I don't use Fandango.
