So, I watched Discovery through CBS All Access from beginning to end. I was so excited to have Star Trek back on the air that I thought any Star Trek is better than no Star Trek. I was wrong.
I loved all the incarnations of ST over the years, sometimes for different reasons, but all of them are special. Enterprise, for many reasons - some personal, allowed me to connect to it in a way STD failed to do. It allowed me to connect to the characters over the length of a season, where the characters in STD (at times) seemed to only be there to service the fast moving / disjointed plot. For me character exploration embeded in a good story is my idea of interesting. The writers of STD never really drew me in or made me care about the characters stumbling through the plot.
So, in my opinion STE wins hands down. Of course there's other seasons to come for STD, but for me I may only watch because of Star Trek being in the title.

And I will always appreciate how good Star Trek always has "something to say." It's nice to watch something worth discussing afterwards. We have a lot of TV entertainment right now which may be good pulp for consumption, but doesn't inspire any critical thinking or deep reflection afterwards.
If the order had been reversed as Brannon Braga suggested, maybe I would've enjoyed the show a bit more. I really did want to like it out of the gate, but it just never happened
