No, last week was a bit much to work inDid they say it last week? I listened but I did not hear it.
Which, in reality, is all it ever is (and should be).
The pretense of what Starfleet is (or is supposed to be) actually pretty fucking nefarious. And no self-respecting planetary government would ever capitulate to terms that required their own standing navy to be absorbed into one hedquarted on a different planet.
In terms of screen time and story focus, I agree. SM-G reminds me a bit of Chloe Bennet's start on AoS. Ibvious that the producers wanted her to be one of the main focus's of the story, but not quite ready for that task. By the end of AoS' first season things had smoothed out for Chloe. I expect no less for SM-G.Her character took a back seat to Saru, Lorca and Stamets this episode.
As others have pointed out, saved the earth, architect of the Federation, blah blah, you know the drill.Clearly an in-joke, since no one would rate Archer as a good captain.
I would suggest re-watching the first four episodes again and watch a little more closely this time.Burnham isn’t horrible but they haven’t done much to develop her as a character.
I agree with Gonzo here. A character in the show mentioned that Burnham might have a grudge against the Klingons because of previous violent encounters with them, then someone here mentioned PTSD, and now 'Burnham had a mental breakdown'.Nerve-pinching your Commanding Officer and committing mutiny I would think is a sign of a breakdown!

Found the shuttle? On second viewing, I noticed something when the Admiral was informing Saru about the capture. She said the pilot was killed in the subsequent firefight... how did Starfleet get that Intel?

I just finished watching it and in teacake's head it went like this..
"You have to sacrifice something.."
"What?"
teacake: ur dick har har har
Okay, I'll give Archer credit for saving the Earth, but Starfleet captains have to save a planet in order to graduate the Academy. As for the architect of the Federation, he was an architect in the same way as George Constanza.
I should have written "an architect of the Federation", as MyRojo clarified.Okay, I'll give Archer credit for saving the Earth, but Starfleet captains have to save a planet in order to graduate the Academy. The shuttle was in Federation space when it was attacked. The Klingons took Lorca and went back to Klingon space, and they left the pilot's dead body. Like... 9.5 from me. This was outstanding. The shots of space, the camera work, the stellar acting, the great script. This is my favorite episode so far.

Discovery had to sneak into Klingon space to get Lorca back.

Best place to begin the search? Then why did Saru order the ship to the shuttles location, given Starfleet combed through it and even said the warp trail went cold?
