Guess Saru didn't rescue the telescope, huh? And why did all those Klingon redshirts get vaporized while the lady with th speaking part just had to roll around in agony for a bit? Was that explained?

I feel like this was pretty obvious. Tyler is Voq. He was protecting the Klingon woman.

I'd love to be wrong, but it does feel telegraphed from a mile away. We'll see, though.

A few other things:

* I'm glad they went into a little detail of why it's essentially mushrooms (though special mushroom spores, really) that power the drive. As far as I'm concerned, sciency enough, let's keep rolling.
* My love of Tilly increases.
* I genuinely did not expect Stametz to step in for the tardigrade. Hooray, science ethics!
* I was also happy to see Burnham and Saru mend fences and begin to heal their relationship. It felt right to me.
* I loved Rainn Wilson's Harcourt Fenton Mudd.
* Captain Lorca continues to be a fascinating character for me.
* Are not Culber and Stametz adorable together? ♥
* Tilly for best someday Captain. ♥

well we need a sinister and disfigured villain to enact a later revenge. sheesh. didnt you get a copy of "script by numbers"

And why did all those Klingon redshirts get vaporized while the lady with the speaking part just had to roll around in agony for a bit? Was that explained? I would think a glancing blow from a beam that disrupts your atoms would still disrupt your atoms, but that sort of logic has never been Trek's strong suit.
Looked to me like the blast hit the wall and L'Rell caught some shrapnel.

It looks like Sarek is in danger. Burham senses it because of their connection. Lorca authorizes a rescue mission. Starfleet is chewing Lorca out for wanting to rescue Sarek, but we all know that he will go with the rescue mission and stay on Starfleets' bad boy list.

Interesting that they're starting an entirely new plot thread rather than pick up on one of the few threads which hasn't been tied up nicely so far. I wonder if we're going back to semi-episodic Trek for awhile?

Didn't we see a clip of Mudd saying 'this is when things go boom', or something to that effect. Harry will show up again, like a bad penny! Got to say I liked Wilson's take on Mudd more than Roger C. Carmels. Not so blustery.
