Interesting. Is that blood or paint, I wonder? If it's blood, is Klingon blood back to being a pinkish purple or is it red and just mixing with the blue-gray skin tone? Or a tattoo or war paint maybe? I like this one's armor much more than the other spiky stuff they got going on. Very nice, actually!

I think it was said to be war paint. Maybe non klingon blood IDk really. It has been said all 24 houses will have their own armor and look. The Gothic ones are just from a single house, other houses will have different armor and even skin tons and such. Also not all will hail from the Home world as not all Klingon Houses are based off the home world.
The wear their best for church. Sometimes they don the spikes for parades, fundraisers, that sort of thing.

I kind of doubt Fuller had anything to do with this particular choice. It's much more likely CBS is just throwing him under the buss to deflect the blame for the horribleness away from the people currently making the show.
You can choose to believe it or not, But the designer and the current show runner said they kept his basic version. You really think the work, the level of work we see here only started after he left?
