Roger Moore dead at 89

My first and, early on, least appreciated Bond. When I was devouring the Fleming books in the '80s, I found his films entertaining, but longed for a different approach. I later came to to much better appreciate his contribution to the role--Coming in at a time when the fate of the franchise was uncertain, he proved its viability following Connery's departure and kept it going for 7 films and 14 years, such that it lived to get around to trying different approaches. I especially enjoyed his commentaries in the DVD box set that I own...he was the only Bond actor to contribute one for each of his films, and they were dry and repetitive as anything, but had a nice atmosphere to them, like Sir Roger had invited me to watch the films with him over a good drink.

Growing up he was my favorite Bond. Enjoyed the hell out of his Bond films.

He did a lot of work for Unicef over the years. Great man.

I thought he was Bond, didn't even know about Sean Connery. Bit young for Live and Let Die but I remember the music and seeing it later with Jane Seymour. God she was beautiful and he was.. Bond.

Rest in Peace.

My stepdad always teases me for liking the "goofy Bond" but I grew up with Roger in the role and always have a soft spot for him. For my money, he'll always be the suavest Bond. I used to try to emulate his smooth voice but could never come close.

Moore was my Bond also, I still remember my parents taking us to a drive-in to see Live and Let Die when I was about 6. I'm surprised to learn that he played the part for "only" 14 years, it seemed like he had been Bond for a lot longer.

It seems that for those of us of a certain generation, all of our heroes are passing on now, and it sucks.

This is very sad. Moore was my Bond. The first Bond movie I ever saw in a theater was Live And Let Die when I was in junior high and it will always be my favorite. All of his movies weren't that great, but he was always that great.

RIP, Roger Moore. Thank you for Bond and the Saint and the indefatigable class. :(

My least favourite Bond. My favourite Bond actor...
I can't help wondering how different peoples perceptions of him would have been had his Bonds not included the worst excesses like Moonraker and more like the relatively serious For Your Eyes Only.

I'm not sure exactly what people have against going for a beer with Timothy Dalton, he seems like a good bloke.

But RIP Roger anyway, he also seemed like a nice bloke.

For the record Dalton and Craig are my favourite Bonds, I can just imagine either of them being somewhat intense!

He was my favourite Bond..... I read his book Bond By Bond and that was only very recently too. :(

Don't forget that other corny line from Moonraker "he's attempting Re-entry"

He was kinda "my Bond". The one I saw the most of in my own personal era.

Also a good sense of humour about himself.

He wasn't my favorite Bond, but he brought a lot to the character and the role. Live and Let Die has my favorite Bond theme, favorite chase (through the bayous of Louisiana), and my favorite throwaway character Clifton James who played sheriff J.W. Pepper. James died last month also. RIP.

So what is everyone's favorite Moore Bond movie? I was going to walk one on Amazon in memory of Roger Moore, but they randomly removed them less than three weeks after adding new ones. I have trouble remembering which one is which so I can't answer my own question.

The Spy Who Loved Me is my favourite Roger Moore Bond.

It's got lots of action, and lots of fun moments too, is a bit over the top with Jaws and overall a fun Bond movie.
