not much in the way of ST4 news these days is there..but TrekMovie has posted a Shatner wants to play Kirk story..
“I’m perfectly fit and ready to put on some makeup …. The problem I guess is what do you do with an aging captain whose youthful existence is already there?,” said Shatner, now 86.

after Beyonds underperformance/general lack of buzz they could use abit Shatner eh maybe dust off some of that original Orci 3 script (if ST4 aims for 2019 itd mark 25 years since he last played Kirk!)

Yeah, I doubt it.

But it really ought to be clear by now that Shatner is always, always up for running with it any time a reporter-type asks him a question about whether he wants to play Kirk again.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm reading here. Some guy asks him if he wants to play Kirk again and Shat says yes, because that's his standard response every time someone asks him this question. He knows damn well that it's not going to happen but he likes humoring people. Which in and of itself isn't a bad thing; it's when someone hears the latest time he gets asked and then thinks he's being serious. Then the internet shitstorm flies.

Don't worry - all the buzz around the next film is that they are going smaller budget wise and The Shat's likeness in film is said to command a mighty sum these days. Wasn't money the reason why Nimoy was in Trek 09 instead of The Shat?

Shatner may be perfectly fit but Prime-Kirk is in really bad shape since 1994. ;)

Please NO

Beyond under performing has ZERO to do w Shat not in it. Paramount can move in front of the closest mirror to find that answer......

His time playing Kirk is over. ST14 needs a great many things, but a craptastic cameo isn't one of them

My thoughts exactly. Let the Shat be what he is now, rather than reliving past glories.

This, and the current cast themselves are all commanding better salaries, and if the rumor of Chris Hemsworth being in the next Star Trek film is true, no way will they ask William Shatner to be in it.

Nah, they were both intended to be in. Prime Spock had a necklace with a holographic emitter on it, and near the end he showed NuSpock the recording of Prime Kirk. (Kinda nice theme actually. Spock Prime helps NuKirk, and Kirk Prime helps NuSpock.) Basically Kirk gave a little pep speech about logic, illogic, feelings, friendship, and doing what's right. All this over a montage of the crew being officially put in charge of the E and her warping off... It's a glorified cameo, and I think that was a problem for Shatner. Unfortunately... That was probably the best opportunity to have the both of them in there in A. A meaningful way. B. Least contrived way. I really liked it. It's a shame Shatner let his ego get in the way. It wasn't big enough, so he didn't want it.

would've been the cherry on top of a great movie
