Locations in the spirit of TRW

Given the matte painting of star base 11 and the design of TRW (now Northrop), I was at the la moma (museum of modern art) and realized it's in the same vein of architecture and outdoor design aesthetic of those other locations. That sort of early/mid 60s look. It could easily have been used as another location for tos. Anyone else ever been struck by an architectural design that struck them as particularly "tos" like?

A local Dallas building is the City Hall built in the early 70s. It has this weird wedge shape to it's front and curved thick pillars. It was used in the original "Robocop" movie as the headquarters of the evil corporation. It had a tower matted onto it's top to make it taller. It's where Robocop met up with ED-209 defense robot and killed it before going in to confront the head bad guy. Played by the great Ronnie Cox.

Also used in the 1980 TV movie The Lathe of Heaven.

I'll have to check it out next time I'm in Dallas!

The Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin by Mies van der Rohe, or anything else designed by him for that matter.

Western Michigan University's plaza with fountain outide performing arts halls. I thought I was going to see a landing party beam in when I was there. I'd post an image but I don't know how without "hotlinking," whatever that is. But I know it is bad.

Is this the building you're referring to?

(To avoid hotlinking, upload images either to your own website or to a designated image-hosting site like Photobucket or Imgur, then link to them.)

"Mid-century modernism."

AKA the best period ever. IF I ever win the lotto I am buying a 50s ranch house on the south side of my town and redoing it period-accurate. It's glorious. I think I have this love for it because of Star Trek too. My High School is 1962 (baby boom arrival time): all flat rectangles, sheets of glass, aluminum strips framing the windows. Lightness was the order of the day, I think because of new aerospace-age materials? When we renovated I pleaded with the architects to leave it alone as much as possible. Pale yellow and gray-green glossy block in the hallways! Pale yellow and turquoise cupboard doors. And YES! we ra out of money and couldn't do nearly as much as they wanted, so a lot survived. If I get into posting pics, I'll try posting that too.

And, yes, Scotpens, that is exactly the area at WMU. Every direction you look it's like a Trek location shoot. I'll try uploading a photo or two.

I can see this building from where I live. It's called building W57 Pyramid. Obtaining residence requires significant wealth.
