CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

AP, through Mike, is admitting he took money he shouldn't have. Not exactly the admission one should publicly make while facing two lawsuits.
Mr. Bawden is also saying that? I have your same exact worded quotes on Mr. Lane's blog too.
1) Alec Peters has put in approximately $ 150,000 of his own money into Axanar over the past year. He is currently paying the $ 15,000 a month it costs to keep the studio open, out of his own pocket, as he has been doing since this for the past 6 months.

2) Alec has not kept a single dollar from donor funds, either in salary, or expense reimbursements. Any money Alec received was paid back through the money he has been putting into Axanar. This means, Alec has worked full time on Axanar for over 2 1/2 years and not received a dime in salary, benefits or expense reimbursements.
Will you give the link to Mr. Badwen saying that. Thanks.

Or am I simply misunderstanding since Mr. Lane does not say that he wrote that but that 'that' message was sent out do donors.

This is more probably my own mistake. If so, then Thanks! for the correction!

Since they were all experts, shouldn't they have known what it took to build a usable movie studio? :guffaw:

They have carpet!!!
Re-reading the Axanar "financial report" it's really incredible how much AP went into this whole enterprise completely oblivious to the potential costs involved:
You want to quickly rig out an old warehouse for filming because it's more cost effective than renting for several months?
Fine
But when the actual cost of the lease is SIXTY THOUSAND DOLLARS (your entire renovation budget BTW) more than you originally planned on, surely it's time to stop and re-think the strategy, right?
Apparently not.
Especially not if the whole "cost saving" thing is just a front and the studio is the entire goal all along (which still isn't finished)

It has been a week of fascinating developments

Underlined.

Someone (T-Mac? I can't remember) is quoted as saying that AP told him that the Axanar movie was a secondary concern. The main goal was building the for-profit studio. Hearsay, yes. But this ain't a court of law, and the unfolding evidence tends to support that hearsay. AP saw all that money and devised a scheme to turn himself into a Hollywood player.

AP, through Mike, is admitting he took money he shouldn't have. Not exactly the admission one should publicly make while facing two lawsuits. The LFIM moniker is well deserved. L&L have the goods on AP and taking into consideration AP doctored his financials and hid e-mails during the discovery phase, his already abysmally low credibility is now worth dog spit. The result is sophistry and damage control on AP's part so I certainly haven't and don't believe anything he says trying to save himself.

Two lawsuits?

See, I'd never go through these steps. and I doubt anyone at Axanar had any forethought about this either.

Of course, when we get a donation, I usually send an email thanking them and explaining what the funds were used for. We don't collect more than we need, and we certainly don't spend it on gas, health insurance or even sushi.
This is 100% correct but if I ever make it down that way, it's Sushi for that awesome crew of yours.

They did re-think it. They planned to recoup that money by renting the studio out and/or creating for-profit films of their own.

Trust me, we have it all saved.
You do? Do you have any notes of the defendant referencing the the conventions or festivals personally attended to market Prelude? I'm specifically looking for names of conventions, film festivals, anyplace like that large or small where Prelude could have been taken to try and win an award. Both in the US and internationally.

I believe there is a list floating around of the awards won by Prelude, and most of those would list the festivals and the like.
I believe he boasts of 47 awards for Prelude of which multiple awards (I believe) where won at some single events.
I did notice he did not win at Dragon Con... Bwahahahahaha!
