Nah you got Khan Noonian SinghKeeping in mind this board's focus and trying to put a smilie on what I feel is a very distressing turn:
It's almost like after eight years of Mr. Spock as President we pined for Kirk then settled for Zapp Brannigan.
I agree that Trump never should have won the primary election. That shocked meAwful. Very disappointing that basically all the Republican voters stuck with Trump, just gave him a pass and therefore power. Early on I suspected white women would stick with the Republican nominee but I am surprised and appalled that they would still do so when he's not only a womanizer but was actually dismissive of sexual consent.
I suspected that in some minority groups that typically favor Democrats turnout would be lower, and it sucks to be right in that, but I didn't expect it would be so bad with her gaining even much of less the percentages of the groups than Obama did.
We can still hope that enough of Congress will oppose or moderate a lot of Trump's proposals but things sure look bad in a lot of ways.

Will the left change? Only time will tell.
But the answer is no.

America makes up 42% of the world economy but not nearly 42% of the world population. The American dream is no dream. So many people wouldn't be desperate to come here if it was.^Perhaps America deserves Mr Trump. Its not the first time working class people vote against their own interest. If they really believe Mr Trump is in power to help them, they are in for a big surprise. The happiest countries in the world with the highest standard of living are Scandinavian and they not follow the US model. What does that say?
The problem is some Americans truely believe in the American dream....they need to wake up and stop dreaming.
But President Trump has to pivot. He is now the most powerful man on earth. He has to act like a grown up.
Racists, bigots and morons incapable of seeing through the outrageous lies of Johnson and Farage caused Brexit.
It's pretty similar with Trump.

My issue is the American dream is just that a dream.America makes up 42% of the world economy but not nearly 42% of the world population. The American dream is no dream. So many people wouldn't be desperate to come here if it was.

Well, maybe Trump will improve quality of life for the average American. You never know. Both social mobility and the Gini coefficient look pretty bad in the US compared to many other Western countries.
The fact that many people still buy it, doesn't mean there's a basis for it in reality.
