*Potential Spoilers* What will the Alternate Enterprise-A look like

Me, too. But they just keep fiddling with it. We had basically two versions of the TOS crew Enterprise for decades: the final TV version and the movie version. Now we've had four versions in seven years (that includes the slight change to the impulse engines from ST09 to their look at the end of STID). I guess with CGI, everyone wants to paint their own version of the Mona Lisa, so to speak.
Don't forget that you need to keep your (non-Hallowe'en) username in either your Location: field or signature line. (I kinda guessed, going by the Mark Twain quote, but I don't want to have to go all the way to QS&F to see whether or not I guessed correctly.)

Done.

I wouldn't hold my breath. There have been no official orthos of the JJprise and it's been 7 years.

That's not quite true. There were official top & side views of both the original nuEnt CGI model and the changed nuEnt for Beyond.

No, those were renders of Tobias Ritcher's (of the Lightworks) CG model, not ILM's or Double Negative's.

Still, no official schematics or technical manuals or whatnot like we had in the 90s. Just a one off poster in a magazine.

Market is just different than it was in the 90's. I would love to have sourcebooks, novels and other merchandise based on the Abramsverse. But it just hasn't worked out.

Indeed, and the Beyond ones were photoshops of his version. Not entirely sure, but I actually think the side view on the new Encyclopedia's Enterprise comparison chart is Richter's also.

His ST'09/ID Enterprise and Kelvin kitbash fleet models appeared in the commercial for and in the Star Trek: Rivals game.

No wonder they use Richter's work, it is highly professional. If they do release any official orthos, I doubt they'll be any better. I wish he makes orthos for the nuEnterprise-A also to complete the set. ;)

To me it's part of larger trend in Hollywood where franchise movies love to destroy their major trademark vehicles, usually after the first film. Both the Burton and Nolan Batmobiles were destroyed in their respective second movies, for example, as was the Nebuchadnezzar in Matrix Reloaded and the Interceptor in Mad Max: Road Warrior (only to be destroyed again in Fury Road -- I'm wondering if it'll just get blown up every other movie). Though not destroyed, the original Ecto-1 made an appearance before it was definitely overhauled in GB2.

Actually, there are four new starships in the montage: the Enterprise-A, the Salcombe, the ship in the far background, and, one I learned of today, seen at 0:12. This new ship is seen traveling from left to right. Ship's primary hull is seen, with a downward pylon and what appears to be a rollbar above the primary hull. It could be a Mayflower-type ship - however, this is far from certain.

Good quality nuEnterprise-A construction scene:

Thank you so much for posting! Now that I've watched that clip about a dozen times, I can at least say three things:

- I love that Keenser joins the big 7 (and Jaylah) to watch the construction scene. He needs more time with the main cast outside of Scotty, for sure.

-Love that the top of the E-A's neck underneath the saucer has a downward slant, just like the same part of the Enterprise-D during saucer separation (the "headless chicken" hull).

-The giant door in front of the E-A has a TNG-like Starfleet emblem, only with what appears to be a more usual circle instead of the oval. But it's still nice to see something that looks like TNG.

I do admit that it looks better in motion than still images, though I think they were trying to hard to pander to the hard core Trekkie. I would've liked to see them move away from the standard starship design to some degree.

Having seen the new "bullet in water" or what-have-you style effect for the warp drive...I've gotta say I like it. We've long heard that FTL in Star Trek is made possible by creating a subspace field that distorts normal space to allow faster than light travel..this kind of backs it up.

Anywho..

Now that clear pictures of the nu' E-A...I'm a fan. There's some aspects I don't like, but every design is like that for me at least. I think the only things I don't like are the unusually large Excelsior-esque fantail on the secondary hull, the large "wings" where the pylons meet and where the nacelles connect to the pylons.

In a few ways, especially when the E-A was being constructed, there were elements that reminded me of the Galaxy class (the top of the neck where it joins into the saucer)...however the design that it reminds me the most of is actually...

The Ambassador Class. The way the neck joins the saucer, the neck in general and the engineering hull shape reminds me of what an Ambassador would look like in the JJ verse.

Just my own .02

It's an evolution of the JJprise and the Kelvin equivalent of the Refit. And yet it's different from both of them. How much more could they move away from the "standard starship design"?

Right, I'm a big fan of that effect. My first reaction when seeing it in theaters was that it strongly reminded me of various warp field bubble graphics in TNG. In my head canon, the warp bubble is the bullet that creates the shape in the proverbial "water."
