New DS9 Documentary

As part of the documentary, which is currently being edited, Behr brought together the DS9 writing staff and gave them one task: break the story for the first episode of season eight.

PLEASE MAKE IT!!!!!!

I was at the panel when Behr made the announcement. I think I might be more excited for that than Discovery.

YYYYEEESSSSSSSS!!!!

Now, what will people do when they learn the purpose of the series was not to hate on Jadzia?

Wow, what great news! I'm very much looking forward to it. I'm a bit bummed, though, that Avery Brooks didn't want to be a part of it. I wonder if it is because he received negative responses to his “our there” interview in Shatner's “The Captains”.

Brooks might just have thought he has already said everything he wanted to say about the series.

I was just thinking the other day that it's a shame that DS9 isn't popular enough to warrant the types of documentaries that TOS and TNG get. So I'm very surprised by this news, but equally excited.

Yeah, that might just as well be the case. Just seems kinda odd that he's the only one who wouldn't want to participate. You'd think people like Armin Shimerman, Jeffrey Combs or René Auberjonois, who frequent the conventions for years, already “said everything they wanted to say about the series”, too, though.

This is exactly what fans (especially DS9 & VOY fans, in regards to remastering) need to show interest in to show CBS that fans still appreciate the 24th century shows.

It sounds suspiciously like the roundtable discussion format we've seen on TNG and ENT Blu rays, doesn't it?

Maybe getting some new extra features in the can, either way the next DS9 edition goes. Full TNG-style remaster, an upscale to HD, or just plain old DVD repackaging.

that's not just a new documentary, holy s&^%. thread should have been called, "original writers tasked to pen season 8." this is far too good to be true though. no show has come back for another season after so long. and ppl say ds9 has no chance coming to blu... what about the chances of a season 8?!

This sounds awesome. Can't wait to see it. Aside from the DVD extras, I haven't seen any sort of DS9 documentary.

So, they need to establish Kira as the main character and Visitor as the series lead, make Nog either security, science or engineering head, invent two or three new characters ...

When this comes out, how are we, as a community, going to look at this "season eight" in relationship to canon? It won't obviously have the same legitimacy of filmed episodes, but it should take precedent over the novels, no?
