Well, just saw a commercial on AMC. Seems they are going the opposite route of Abrams. Instead of trying to keep secret what everyone already knows, they're showing the entire movie in the commercials. Even had what looked to be the last exchange of the movie as Kirk, McCoy, and Spock look up at something (E-A presumably) and McCoy asks if they really want to go back out there and the other two answer yes in unison.
So, we have the Enterprise in deep space, half way through the five year mission. Everyone having a bit of a crisis of faith. Kirk "I joined on a date." Wondering why they are doing what they are doing. Enterpise is attacked by swarm ships. Crew is scattered. Kirk teams up with white girl. Main crew is mostly unified. Dirt bike action. Fix up old Federation starship. Save the rest of the crew, defeat Idris Elba, go back to Federation space. Kirk has meaning once again. Speech from Shohreh Aghdashloo at the unveiling of the Enterprise-A. Final shot of the movie the E-A blasting to warp.
I can't wait for the Fuller - Meyer show.

I just went to YouTube and there is a banner ad running at the top and it contains a video inside it showing a condensed version of the latest trailer but with some different snippets. We hear what appears to be a log entry from Kirk and features the Rhianna song. It is a brief preview. It also said "See the full trailer at 5 AM PST...."

New TV spot tonight (June 26). Can't find it on YouTube, but it has a lot of new footage, including some dialogue from the "finale" with Kirk, Spock, and Disco Bones staring up and talking about "going back out there."

I think the Rihanna song thing is pretty cool and a good move. Why not? She will have a music video for the song with scenes from the movie which might attract her fans.
My only complain right now is that I wish we got more promotional pictures of the characters and the villain, especially now that Anton is gone. They say this movie is more an ensemble then why not promote it like that? I follow the official pages of the movie and they keep only posting stuff about Boutella's alien character. We get it, she's badass. I hope she's more than that though (I have a feeling her character is so promoted because there might be something about her that is 'key' to the main theme of the movie? Otherwise I can't explain why she's more front and center than the villain - and Elba is a BIG name - and the other new alien girl that also might have an important role if the trailers are any hint)
I frankly would like to get more promotion for the main characters and more about the other dynamics beside the Spock/Bones one they keep bringing up in every interview (to attract tos fans. I get it. But you keep talking about 'new' stuff and new dynamics yet you promote the one aspect that is a tos homage). Though I feel really sad thinking about Kirk/Chekov having their own dynamic in this movie and how much Anton might have been excited to talk about those interactions.. who knows maybe him and Chris made interviews together or were supposed to now.
I'm trying really hard to not think about Anton and not feel sad when I see him in the trailers, but I'm having a hard time.
