CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

I love the JJ Abrams films, I plan on seeing Beyond on opening day, and I hope to see Axanar go down in flames. Alex Peters brought all of this on himself by being a sociopathic egotist who got to full of himself and pole vaulted over the line set by CBS and Paramount. Once he saw the kind of money he could bring in through crowdfunding, he got $$ in his eyes and decided he wanted to illegally use an IP he didn't own to set up his own movie studio. He and Axanar deserve everything that has happened to them.
Kennysmith , you are not going to find any Axanar supporters here, so might as well just move on.

As for Bawden's new blog post, I love how he completely ignores the fact that everything was going fine with CBS/P and the fan films before Alec Peters and Axanar came into the picture. If Alec had been able to keep his greed and egotism in check none of this would be happening.
He also mentions at one point that CBS and Paramount dropped the lawsuit, past tense, so should we take that as an official announcement that the lawsuit is in fact fully dropped? Or did he possibly just "say" the wrong thing there?
He also talks about crowdfunding is a requirement for fan films, but people were making fan films for years before they started crowdfunding. Didn't NV and Continues do some of the their first episodes without crowdfunding?
EDIT: I can't believe they actually put a video of AP on an official Trek site. I really hope that's the last we see of him in association with official Trek, and I really hope this whole thing doesn't turn him into some kind of representative of "the fans" for franchise.

I don't like JJ ABRAMS and CBS of what they did to all of Star Trek fans and other around the world, do to what paramount studio is doing to us they don't like any of us around no more. But I got this under my arm of a good idea about this. I don't know how many of you are going to the court and help AXANAR with the 100% support him but here is the
Is the twist go in your unform and show your support for this part of Star Trek and not JJ ABRAMS film.
And the people at the 3 places are CBS and PARAMOUNT STUDIO and VIACOM that we all like the OLDER part of Star Trek this go's from TOS, next gen, DS-9, VOYAGER. But not his film from JJ's. I want to see him lose out in no more money and CBS not going to tell us what to do. We do this by not buying the things that they want to sell. I just have a hole lot to say about this but I want to here back from all of you about this idea from me?.

Sorry, I'm going to see Star Trek Beyond on opening day, but I absolutely would not support Axanar.

Mr. Smith,

Courts have security, which everyone (yes, even spectators) is required to pass. I suggest you rethink your strategy.

It is possible but like our Janet says settlement is more likely what kind of settlement that is well?????
If it's a smokescreen, then it's one that Axanar launched toward itself because its counterclaim foreclosed the studios' ability to simply drop the suit. Now the counterclaim is on its own ticking clock, controlled by the court not by the plaintiffs, through which the same legal maneuvers Axanar's attorneys used to create a five-month delay in the suit can now be employed by plaintiffs.

On a federal court schedule, July 22 is, like, tomorrow.

I have no time for JJtrek, but I recognize that CBS/P owns Trek and can do as they wish. My not seeing the film will not affect them in the slightest.

That said I don't support AP and Axanar given their blatant greed and inflated ego and poisoning the fan community. I have no interest whatsoever in seeing this project made even as I hope that CBS continues their sense of fairness toward those fan productions who respectfully did not cross the line.

CBS never had to allow fanfilms to exist, but their "no harm, no foul" approach allowed everyone to happily coexist. It was win-win for everyone. I sincerely hope a way is found for that to continue in some fashion.

I had to re-read that part. What he said was, "In fact, shortly after CBS/Paramount dropped their suit on Axanar Productions, David Gerrold and Marc Zicree both wrote blog posts urging CBS to adopt such a policy" when he should have written, "In fact, shortly after CBS/Paramount sued Axanar Productions...".

I do know that there is a lot of you who don't live in the USA but if any one who do see this that do live in our country and the state of California, that can or could go to help with the support with him. If any ones of you who know any one in California, I do want to here back from them about this big issue we are running into with CBS/P?.

I would hope to see the 100th anniversary of Star Trek. I doubt fan films mean much at all to C/P until they become an embarrassment.

:wtf: I don't care if I happened to live right next to the courthouse. I would never support AP or anyone like him who stupidly ruined things for everyone else.

AP can rot in hell.

Somewhere, somehow, there is something that we don't see coming.
Yeah, I've been thinking this since late January after google researching Ms. Ranahan (for all that's worth anyway) and running into cases back then where copyright lines are being successfully being chipped and moved around. Loeb&Loeb says on one of their website pages that IP boundaries are currently fluid. (I did post their quote & the link a ways back upthread) I think she's smart, that one. Although I unequivocally think she will do her all out best for this defendant I do not and never have thought this case was taken out of the goodness of heart but instead because 'something' is seen and being worked on there for her, and her firm.

AND.. I am absolutely very very extremely totally really really really hoping I'm truly categorically decidedly unconditionally wrong about everything and will be very grateful and happy to be wrong, but to use that phrase 'I have a bad feeling about this.'

Kennysmith, I appreciate the artistic value of your performance theater here, but you laid it on a little thick. If you had worked it into replies, instead of making new posts, your punking would've been more convincing. Still, points for the "let's show up in court in uniform" description, which was pretty amusing.

Oh. HEY, I live in California! In fact, I live in LA. I could TOTALLY go down and support... CBS/Paramount.
I should totally get a CBS t-shirt or something.

Because, I'm gonna be honest: I fully support what CBS and Paramount are doing. They have been wonderful in allowing fan films, fanfic, etc. (Unlike someone say... named Anne Rice.)

Copyright doesn't always just protect the Goliaths of the world, but those of us who are Davids. Who are creating things that people might want, and copyright is OUR protection against theft. People like Peters don't care, they want to chip away at those things that protect MY work. I hate that idea. I think it's horrible.

So. No. I won't try and ruin to large corporations, because I want them to succeed at this. Because Axanar is fully and completely in the wrong on this. Morally, ethically, which ever you want to choose.

I do have a question for you please?
What part of the area of the LA downtown?, are you near union station?. Or what part of town. I was born in the la area I know about it.
Thank you, I am just hope to meet you soon?.

Here's how he got that video made. He went to the fan event. The fan event had a booth where people could say why they love Star Trek. He, like many others there, made a video. Later some intern, was sorting through the videos, and anyone, who was well spoken, didn't curse or flash the camera had their video passed through.
Really? That is really how that got up there?! Well, fuuuuuu-dge

Note to Carlos: #IntellectualProperty reaches lots of people who are in the broader industry. If they were somehow  to start getting clued in about Axanar, crowdfunding, studio guidelines, etc. then the discussion might bring more informed voices to the Axanar fans and perhaps the studios.
Good to know. I've been using the #copyright hashtag a lot. Too bad #intellectualproperty is so many characters :(

After I saw this picture, I immediately thought of this:

"You still don't get it, do you?...That's what he does! That's ALL he does! You can't stop him!..."
"Listen, and understand! That (Infringor) is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until (Fan Films) are dead."

Huh, all that is missing from the picture above are the skulls of the fans...

Sorry, having a Dark morning.

Kenny, how's your full size Enterprise project coming along? Haven't heard about that in some time.
