Put on a pot of coffee. It's going to be a long night.I have now watched the trailer 10 times. Maybe 10 more is needed before I watch it 10 more after that.
Is that poster derivative or transformative? Oh. Wait. Paramount owns it, so it doesn't matter.Look at this poster from the event!!
I'm buying it....

50th Anniversary homage. Sheer awesomeness. Is that poster derivative or transformative? Oh. Wait. Paramount owns it, so it doesn't matter.
In any case, it takes chutzpah to do that. And, I want one.
Well, 37th.50th Anniversary homage. Sheer awesomeness.
So stray observations
- Speaking of which, this just confirms that the Generations like image of the saucer flying off is definitely fake. The shot of the deflector dish getting pummeled by the swarm ships with the saucer still clearly attached is proof enough.
There's this picture in this post that's been making the rounds. The new trailer pretty much proves it's false, as at the 1:20 mark we see the Swarm ships pummel the deflector dish, and it being shredded, with the saucer still attached. Whereas in that picture, the deflector dish is clearly still intact post-breakup.Could you clarify what you mean here? It's entirely likely that the swarm ships dismantle the E piece-by-piece until all the separate compontents are free floating, with the saucer plummeting out of the sky.
Yeah I don't agree with that either. Later in trailer you see a saucer shaped flame ball entering the atmosphere and then Kirk and Spock jumping through the shattered glass of the command deck and sliding down the saucer to the ground.Could you clarify what you mean here? It's entirely likely that the swarm ships dismantle the E piece-by-piece until all the separate compontents are free floating, with the saucer plummeting out of the sky.

Looks like a new hand phaser design. I believe there was already a behind-the-scenes with Pine that showed an armory of sorts with new rifle models. Kind of glad they replaced the old ones, the flip thing was kind of goofy.
- The Franklin's phaser fire looks more in line line with what the Kelvin was shooting than an NX. So maybe closer to the one than the other?
- Is there ANYTHING that isn't improved by Shohreh Aghdashloo?
- Another look at the Enterprise, another nail in the coffin of the starship size argument in favor of it being smaller.
- It also looks like we're going to get a look at a different room on the Enterprise, from where Kirk and Bones are sitting. Mess? Bar? Quarters? It's a shame that they've done all this hard work on the Enterprise sets, just to destroy it, but hopefully we'll get another one at the end!

- I'm getting a real Mass Effect, Collectors, vibe from the swarm dudes.
That's actually the very image I'm talking about being fake, I'm not saying that the Ent DOESN'T break up. I'm saying it doesn't break up as depicted there. The trailer makes it pretty obvious that the Big-E goes down in pieces as we see the saucer section entering the atmosphere around 2:10.Yeah, this pic pretty much confirms that the Enterprise goes down in pieces...
