Look, we rank just above a vegetarian making news and a tv personality I've never heard of who doesn't like sex!!! Way to go guys. Other than this, most fans on Facebook seem to be generally miserable and hate that there's even a trailer out...so nothing new.

Although it's presumably still a work in progress.

Heck, we all remember Captain Nicole Janeway of the U.S.S. Voyager, right? And "Doctor Zimmerman," the cranky holographic doctor? And Tuvok, the elderly Vulcan security officer?

(All straight from the original VOYAGER bible, btw.)

And I loved that they made Ensign Ro a regular on DS9! :)

Ah yes! Well they must have a general direction? Nothing's really fixed until the editing is done, scripts can be rwritten , actors improvise and scenes are reshot.

And they wanted Ro but couldn't get Michelle Forbes back so invented Kira. It's quite funny though, they brought her back in comics and more prominently books - Ro's now Captain of DS9 after being Security Chief replacing Odo!! So she did become a DS9 regular after all. Only took, what? A decade?

Also imagine the monster maroons being shot in Digital HD if this is post-TUC. Hmmmmm

Mines been nothing but happiness and joy.

Not sure if I just have a more positive feed, or if I've managed to filter enough people out of it :p

Cool teaser, but not really informative. I think the only thing we can really tell from this is that it's not going to any kind remake of any of the other shows.
The one thing I do find interesting is the plural crews, that does seem to hint we'll be getting more than one group of characters. I honestly didn't notice that until I saw it mentioned here, but that does make the anthology idea seem a bit more plausible.

Except that info is not from a reliable source in the least.
Info is from TrekMovie.Com so it's a reliable but unconfirmed rumor :)
Destroyed, Kirk?!
I'll disagree with that bit of hyperbole.
Don't know what Kirk has to do with it, but that's what did Voyager in for me.

I can't quite see the monster maroons making a full time comeback, i'd hazard that they would do something a bit more of a hybrid of TNG and Maroons, but who knows?

Firstly, I've never even heard of TrekMovie.com.

Secondly, the article says this specifically:

BirthMoviesDeath is reporting that the new Star Trek television series “definitely isn’t in the JJ rebootverse.”

Devin Faraci was the original source on this rumour, and it's been established on here that he isn't a very reliable one. I'd hold off on making any assumptions.

Info is from TrekMovie.Com so it's a reliable but unconfirmed rumor :)

And note that the TrekMovie.Com article is merely citing Faraci's original post. They're not claiming to have any inside information of their own.

It doesn't matter how many websites keep parroting the same rumor, citing the original post by Faraci. That doesn't make make it any more or less reliable.

I. Need. This.

Come on 2017!!!!!!!!!!! I'll throw as much money as need be, at whatever streaming media airs this show in the UK! :)

Hmm, point taken. I was referring to the time period of TUC - Nicholas Meyer made some remarks which suggest that the show might take place in that era.

The remarks that it "won't take place in the JJ Abrams' timeline" doesn't make sense to me practically speaking. You have this wildly successful reboot of an old movie franchise, and now you're producing a TV show from the same franchise, why WOULDN'T it be in the same "universe" or timeline? I just interpret those rumors to mean it takes place in a different TIME - i.e. 30+ years later, where it can be tied in but without being too restrictive. It doesn't need to be structured like MCU, but complimentary TV shows and movies is usually a successful formula.

People are suggesting the delta shield is Borgified. If anything, to me the shield looks more like cast metal. I like it; it gives it some texture and depth.

I could be wrong, of course. I only know as much as anyone else here.

why WOULDN'T it be in the same "universe" or timeline?

2 off the top of my head for why the TV show should be Prime Trek:

1) Because the movie franchise isn't considered dead yet and it might be seen as cannibalistic to have nuTrek on TV.

2) It ends the "true Trek" civil war. Prime trek fans can watch the TV show and nu-Trek fans can watch the movies.

Don't know what Kirk has to do with it, but that's what did Voyager in for me.
Okay, you didn't mention that it was a subjective experience. That your subjective experience of Voyger was destroyed is, of course, absolutely valid. But lacking "for me," it was worded as an absolute that would apply to everyone. Though I'd still take issue with such a dramatic word as "destroyed." Really?

I thought anyone here would get the M5 (The Ultimate Computer) reference: "Destroyed, Kirk?!" A bit of fan humor.

It could make sense for the TV show to be set in the same universe as the movies and have some occasional storyline ties. Marvel is doing it, so why not?

And, while I have long had disdain for the monster maroons, I wouldn't mind a streamlined and much less bulky uniform that was aesthetically influenced by it.

I haven't read all of the posts in the thread, so I don't know if this has already been discussed, but a recent Wired Magazine article reports that Bryan Fuller wants Angela Bassett as a captain, something I have advocated for years, and Rosario Dawson as her first officer. The article also mentions that Bassett has "shot down" rumors that she is in talks for the part.

I think Bassett would make a great captain. Dawson, who is a trekkie, and has been lobbying for a part in a Trek project for years, I think, would likewise be great as a First Officer.

Really looking forward to this show.
