Trek 2017 TV Show Teaser

What we see in the teaser is obvioulsy the destruction of Romulus ... I wonder if the series will actually deal with that. The disappearance of a major player in this quadrant might have very interesting consequences. It would certainly be in line with Nick Meyer's comment about TUC as a reference.

And we could have guest appearances by pretty much anyone from the TNG era!
I was just about to post something about this. While I wouldn't say it's obviously Romulus, it sure the hell looks like Romulus and the impending supernova.

I'm pretty sure nothing from this teaser will actually be in the series.

This is entirely only a pitch for the tone of the new show.

At this time the show probably only exists in the form of some very loose ideas and casting wishes.

Well I'm excited.

A few nods to the past, does that exploding blue planet confirm post-TUC rumour? If it is an anthology they could be doing anything. I like the new logo, finally breaking away from the TOS branding

It would be very ambitious if it was Game of Thrones-style multi ship

I'd say the same. I don't see why they'd be creating SFX sequences when they supposably don't even have a full writers room yet, let alone complete scripts.

Of course, that hasn't stopped Facebook going nuts about how it's obviously set between TUC & GEN/ENT & TOS/ENT & 2009/TOS &TNG/Post-NEM/Post-BEY/oh-God-make-the-abbreviations-stop.

Why do many people in the internet read the new villains as never seen before species? We can deal with the fact that new heroes could be human or any known species but the new villains should be villains not seen yet. Or the new worlds implies that worlds we have never seen. I really think that new villains could mean that villains we haven't seen yet but hey any new Cardassian, Klingon, Romulan or any other known species can harbor a new villain we have yet to meat. Or the new worlds: we can get to see new worlds with known species. Like we can have the Breen home world, or the Antican home world, or the Gorn home world etc etc etc. I really don't think we can read too much in just a teaser for investors. It could go any way the series yet as long as we don't know any specifics. The only strange thing that pops out for me is the new crews, but as stated before this can mean anything: anthology series, multiple star-ships show, maybe some other meaning.

"New Crews" seems like it confirms the anthology rumor, but it could also mean multiple ships on a mission, like a convoy or something.
A convoy set up might be pretty good a lead to some fundamental Trek Wagon Train to the stars stuff.

Signs point to anthology and in both continuities.
Though, if I squint a bit and go with what I hope for a bit....post Hobus prime universe dealing with the fallout, a La TUC. (or as has been done in STO and sort of done with the split empire in te novels.)

Nope not an anthology. Here's my current guess. lol

The easter eggs in the trailer are Romulus, and "crews" means the show will take place in both the prime and JJ timelines as there is some kind of reconciliation of the timeline and it's effect on the crew of the same ship in both, either before, after, during or all.

It's not much of a trailer to be honest. [As a few have stated here]

My biggest concern is that 'new villains' part, which has quite a few talking on social media as well...I really hope this doesn't veer into JJ-Trek style garbage. Action and moustache twirling villains is not what this needs.

Of course it is too early to speculate. I'm very curious but also can't shake this feeling of trepidation.

So in case no one has realized this yet: That blue planet, sun, etc.? Those visuals were taken directly from the end credits from the Star Trek '09 movie.

Does that mean that the new show will take place in the nuUniverse? Maybe, but probably not. I don't know if many of you remember the original teaser trailer for TNG, but it was made up entirely of visuals of the Genesis effect from TWOK.

This is just filler, folks. Nothing more. If anything, the most useful piece of information is that the new show will most likely just be called "Star Trek." And even that is in doubt, if Variety is to be believed.

That would be the worst possible route for this series to take.

Could that destroyed moon be Praxis?
It's far more likely that the graphics team is showing that they are fully armed and operational with their new high-end work stations and a development environment for the task ahead, producing a few cool graphics for the teaser that has nothing to do with anything that will be seen in the series.

might be wrong but wasn't there a period in the 90s when TOS was being referred to as 'Classic Trek' or 'Trek Classic?' or at least there seemed to be an attempt to have it called that on merchandise etc.(probably due to the Classic Coke thing?) Maybe the VHS reissues in the late 90s with the 3eps per tape being called "The Original Series" sealed the 'TOS' label? I'm not sure
I think it's more likely that there was the usual confluence of influence between Star Wars and Star Trek with "Original Trilogy" and "Original Series," respectively.

What we see in the teaser is obvioulsy the destruction of Romulus ...
Since there's no agreement on that, it's not so obvious. And besides, it's wrong. ;)

Why do many people in the internet read the new villains as never seen before species? ...
Yup. That kind of question reveals a mind which is far too logical and well-reasoned for the more wild assumptions that are popular here. You must be new. Good luck.

Battlestar Trekkia.

every little detail in this trailer is 100% relevant to what the show is going to be
[/sarcasm]

What, no obtuse graphic?

My level of agreement with you here is shocking. It could be a new era.
