CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

It's not our mission statement to seek out patent/copyright trolls. We write about this topic when the opportunity presents itself. We usually stick to AV but in this case I had an interest in Axanar since I'm a big Star Trek fan. Most of the content in the article everyone loves to hate has already been in print elsewhere so nothing was "made up" other than our opinion about J.J. Trek.

It really doesn't matter what else I say in this thread since the most vocal readers of this thread have already formulated their opinions about us. I am getting with the article's author tomorrow to take another pass before it goes live and hopefully will get a response from the Axanar Productions people about their 501c intentions by then.

This time I am truly done with this thread and any further commentary will be made on our forum if needed. The only difference is I won't threaten to "eliminate" people that disagree on our forum. I have enjoyed this roasting you guys have given me here and it has opened my eyes to general attitude on this website. Once again, thank you and live long and prosper.

He/She may have just given up all the friends he/she allegedly ever had.
Seems sad somehow!

You might want to separate into two different stories then. Giving an opinion on current films, and mixing that with coverage of a court case doesn't seem like the best way of going about things.

Well you've really got no one but yourself to blame here, man. You came in guns blazing, and started insulting folks left and right.

You realize your are following the Alex Peters playbook, right?

I'll give Alec this: even in jest, I don't think he's ever gone on to 'clarify' that he's requesting the mods kill (sorry, 'atomise') an annoying poster.

I mean sure, he's threatened to beat people up. But...

You obviously don't know the history of Monster and their tactics including trademarking the very word "monster". They are very hated in the audio world b/c of this.

They claim against Bluejeans was bogus and they backed down once I published the response. They not only backed off from Monster MiniGolf when I made it public but they also paid their legal fees too! They weren't suing Monster MiniGolf or others for using their logo. They were suing for using the word "Monster" in their business.

I suggest you research this a little more.

Let's get to the heart of the matter: how big of a check did Alec Peters write to get you to do that article?

This feels like as good a time as any to whip out some old favorites.

Can't answer that question? Rhetorical queries are beyond you? Not a problem. I'll whittle it down to something simpler:

Still not good enough? Maybe that's because you've been duped into drinking the rancid Axanar Kool-Aid perhaps? The stuff that puts the truth in your blind spot maybe?

But hey, its all good, right? I mean this...

... can't be all bad, can it?

Silly me,there's that rhetorical question again...

Couldn't find time to address @AudioGene before he declared quits, but the impression I take away is that he saw the emotional content rather than the intellectual content of reactions to his article.

For example on the 501c3 application, he just couldn't seem to hear that those kind of nonprofits are not in any way the same as a for profit that declares it makes no net profit, and that (emotional content) if someone knowingly insists on this to donors, then it is wrong.

He kept trying to find a way to legitimize the AP position by saying what AP says Axanar is (nonprofit) has to be held as a plausible option for as long as AP says it, there's no way to actually apply intellectual content and see it is wrong. Oh well. Its also true in this perspective that climate change is not man made so long as someone somewhere insists its coming from nature.

This is believer process, not critical process.

I don't think you can confuse being a 501 c and recreating C/p's I P for a profit.which includes paying others to recreate I P for you.

It wouldn't matter if you are a 501 c 3, you still just can't take someone else's IP. Unless it's educational or transformative.

PBS can't just make a Star Wars film for funzies.

So is what Peters does, banning people that disagree with him. Just like you are suggesting. I guess you have been here long enough that you are no longer the hero, but the villain.
It is bizarre that HMS Ark Royal is liking your posts that point out that he is advocating treating posters in same manner as Mr. Peters does. Please sir, may I have another!

Thank you for pointing that out
Somebody needed to. You really pushed the limit with your "suggestion" that another poster be "eliminated". If I were a moderator, which obviously I'm not, you would have received a flaming PM telling you to dial it back.

You did the rest of us no favors while we were trying to have a facts-based discussion with the guy in an attempt to change his views. Not saying we had much of a chance to succeed, but all you did was put him on the defensive with all your personal attacks.
