Why have no other Star Trek Fan Films gotten a call from CBS? Why was it ONLY Star Trek: Horizon that got a call? This is a question NO ONE is asking (especially the opinion blogs that love attacking Axanar, which as I have pointed out, are only interested in attacking Axanar, not doing any real reporting).​

Pretty sure that question has been asked here and on some of the "anti-Axanar" blogs. I mean, wasn't this place just trolled by someone claiming that by just asking the question it damaged the reputation of other fan-film project?

Tommy Kraft claims that when Bill Burke from CBS called him he said “Other productions are getting calls”. But that hasn’t happened. Did Tommy mishear Bill? Did Bill Burke lie about other productions getting calls so Tommy would feel better? Why was Star Trek: Continues Indiegogo allowed to continue if CBS was going to be calling other productions?​

Pretty sure Mr. Kraft corrected the record and said he was never told any such thing nor did he relay that to anyone. Could it be that the one person who claims Mr. Kraft told him that misheard?

No other production has gotten a call. So why not? Why has ONLY Horizon gotten a call from CBS? What does Horizon have in common with Axanar? Is it that Tommy Kraft worked on Axanar? Is CBS continuing its blacklisting of people associated with Axanar? Or is it that Star Trek: Horizon was a high quality MOVIE, just like Axanar.​

Horizon was fairly decent and the plot was above average compared to most fan-films / fan-fiction goes, but "high quality"?? Nah. It was a pretty good fan-film but would never be mistaken for a CBS/Paramount production.

Someone needs to ask these questions. Because with Horizon being asked to stop, CBS has just blurred the lines between what they find acceptable and what they don’t even more.​

I think they made that line very much clearer: "Try to make money off our IP, and we'll squish you like a bug."

Jespah, I have a question: Given the 'Studio' was mentioned in C/P's complaint (somewhat tangentially but still) - could L&L use that ad and all the other stuff showing Alec Peters is still involved with the property after this sublet agreement - and given the property was refurbished with money raised for the Axanar Feature as part of the 'Financial Damages' portion of the case?

(This assumes of course the case goes to Trial and C/P gets one or more findings of 'copyright Infrigement' against Alec Peters (who is along with 'Axanar Productions' personally named in the lawsuit.)

Regarding the 'something' that has gone down today:
-I can't see the upthread posted picture.
-And the posted link to it is only allowing me to see a small pictures, and which don't enlarge much.
-I can see the defendant in one.
-One is a picture with something that says 'The 2016 Sc-Fest LA Festival Board' and I can read the defendant's name in the list.
-I can see a picture of the studio formerly known as ares and the words Valkyre Studios above it - but I am unable to read the print under that picture.

-I googled The 2016 Sc-Fest LA Festival which says it will be held May 5 – 29. (is that the reported next month's rent or something?)
-Two of the upthread posts mention Curtis Short and saying he did manage the studio formerly known as ares, and is now managing it under the name Valkyre Studios. (did the assets changed hands today?)
-I googled Valkyre Studios. A cosplay person's facebook comes up & something called Valkyre Entertainment (maybe a game site?) Are one or both of these the now Valkyre Studio?
-One upthread post mentions a 'flyer' and it being “a laundry list of stuff that was done to create [the] for profit studio”. I can't see that flyer. Is it one of the pics on the facebook page. If it is I can't read it.
-Another upthread posted link takes me to the same cosplayer's facebook page.
-I read the link to the May 14, 2015 production website with some of Mr. Short's history with the defendant.

Oh, they absolutely can - it's a part of the material benefit.

Further, I had posted upstream (a page ago? Two?) about fraudulent conveyances. This 'transaction' (which I still think is a gift, but would still qualify) would come under that.

I'm starting to think that way too. Up until this point I've been mildly bemused by both Axanars pinball-style dalliance with the truth and their supporters pinball-style dalliance with reality, and it's all been quite entertaining. Now I think the guy deserves prosecution for more than just IP theft. If this becomes a going concern then it effectively severs all ties with Axanar other than the half-promises to complete it attributed to Alec Peters (who doesn't have the best history in that respect) and some (allegedly) drunken tweets by the DVD Extras guy. Any Axanar donors reading this need to wake up because this is it, this is where the cup is lifted and the pea is gone, the ace of spades is no longer in the pack etc etc.

I can only assume he plans to go down with the Axanar ship, which i can sort of respect him for doing so, to at least prove he never backed down. What this means for all others, of course, is that CBS/Paramount will C&D all over fan films and maybe even fanfics

If this isn't a dose of cold water to the faithful, they deserve to be fleeced. The court ruled that Peters and Co. could go ahead and make Axanar, but this makes it clear that Axanar is dead.

I don't see how people can continue to defend this but I'm sure they will. Prinsbky claim he needs money to pay rent while lawsuit is going on but the change of name sad investor group is all very shady.

Absolutely and I'm sure C/p is working right now on a long discovery request related to ares, Valkyrie, the investors, terms of sale, etc. he may keep details from backers but he's going to have to turn over all the details and records on the studio to the court.

They are so screwed. He better cut a deal with c/p before discovery because I'm pretty sure he doesn't want all the financial details to become known to backers and if he gives it up in discovery I'm sure it will get out.
