I've always thought it would end in a settlement where Peters has to admit to overreach in the area of IP and gives up the Axanar project, destroying everything that exists. Though I can see the arguments for CBS/P carrying it forward if they want to make a broader statement. But there is no real money to be had from Peters even if they are entitled to damages, a trial costs even CBS/P significant money (and even if Peters has to pay their court costs, where does that money come from?), and Peters' reputation is already ruined and he's probably through in the industry. At some point, even for CBS/P, it becomes piling on.
Of course, this doesn't mean Peters couldn't face other legal problems coming from Axanar. To that extent, CBS/P may leave him to the vultures, too.
