I'm still surprised people have been capable of filling 726 pages with this......

I seriously only check this part of the forum to see how many pages have added since last time I checked. What is everyone even talking about really? Is it seriously that exciting, this entire situation?

Something new and exciting?

Chairman Alec "Lord" Peters of the newly formed mega-media corporation, CBS/Paramount, just announced the exciting news that Axanar has finished principle photography and is now in post-production, for an expected July 22nd, 2016 wordwide opening, including the ISS! Mr. Peters commented on the hard work of all involved in the awesome production, and specifically singled out the Fans, for their unwavering and undying support of the project. He also welcomed Mr. William Shatner and Mr. George Takei to the company. Mr. Shatner will serve as COO and Official Spokesperson, while Mr. Takei will fill the role of CFO and Company Navigator, a newly created position that Peters says will "...steer us to the stars and through the 21st Century, and beyond".
Chairman Peters also invited press and invited guests to tour the new, recently competed Production Facility and new home to CBS/Paramount. Society reporters and some guests commented favorably about the carpeting adorning the state-of-the-art complex, and coffee and exotic "Star Trek-themed" snacks were available.

<The above is a "Dream Sequence" story idea.>

From the Caption quiz on the TNG boards...

"Professor, you appear to have the finalised script for Axanar. Curious - where, when and how did you obtain this?"

It's a decent analogue of how legalese can inflate language and the quantity of discussion from well-fed lawyers to obese proportions. The only difference here is that folks in this thread don't seem to be as good as lawyers at figuring out how to get paid 100 times their worth for each post they make, though I think some are trying with blogs and such. Remember to log your time thinking about making your next post while sitting on the toilet; also dreaming of this while asleep. Someone might figure out how to make this a class action thread and make $billions while the payout to the participants will be $0.97 each, Star Trek BBS advertising revenues from this thread notwithstanding.

Depends what you are here for.
I think the whole discussion of IP/copyright utterly fascinating.
Some are here for the schadenfreude.
Some are here for both.

So. Yeah. I guess. Exciting. At least interesting.

Jespah mentioned on Facebook that these types of pleadings cost significantly less than discovery. Once the case moves into discovery Axanar will begin to wrack up all sorts of costs that aren't covered under their pro bono relationship with their counsel. So by issuing these motions defense has been able to add time to the clock, with hopes a settlement could be negotiated....

All allegedly going on:
He's preparing to move the studio to a stand alone entity. And reimburse Axanar, although exact amount not yet determined.

He's putting his props into a trust... which would make them harder to get to in the event of a judgment.

Bet he moves that house to a trust or LLC similarly. I would.

And clearly he's NOT doing anything about Axanar but delaying, which likely means he's given up on actually completing the production anytime soon.

So - preparing for judgment day IMHO.

Correct. It's boring, tedious, uninteresting, nothing happening The thread could've ended at page five or somewhere early on. Both the outcome and implications are known. It's a thread that's packed because it's a nuTrek flashpoint and people feel strongly about that.

Yet you obviously are following this thread, and even posted in it. You must be a glutton for punishment to keep coming back. ;-)
