James Spader seems like he always plays the same character in every role. Even Ultron just seemed like that same character.

Key points

-Lois's camera man was Jimmy Olsen and Snyder killed him to set the tone

-Lex knows about everyone.

. Too much dialogue in the superhero costumes gets a bit silly

Is that why Superman barely says anything? When he does say something it's in an aggressive tone?

He doesn't even say anything in the court room

I can only imagine the Justice league assembled and their paragraph long dialogue.

No, it wasn't mentioned in the theatrical version. Supposedly it will be mentioned in the extended version.

As much as I enjoyed the movie, Snyder is an asshole. Even on things I liked in the movie, when he explains his reasons in interviews, it's like WTF?! He killed Superman, because he wanted Batman to assemble (yes, I know, but it is the fitting word) the Justice League? Not because the Death and Return of Superman is one of the greatest stories in the Superman canon, but because he wanted Batman in the spotlight? Dude, fuck you!

This part in particular kind of bugs me. It may come off as silly, but that's just the nature of these things.

The one time that sticks out in my mind that I was taken out of a superhero film by the silliness of the characters in costume was the rooftop scene in Spider-Man, where Goblin is doing the "join me and we can rule the city together" schtick while they're both wearing full face masks...it was basically a pantomime with voiceover.

Then there's Bale's silly-ass Batman voice....

That kind of stuff never bothered me, it's just the nature of the things I guess.

The alternative is to get their masks off, which is what happens in the Marvel films a lot. But I see no issue with Batman and Superman having a conversation in full gear, I think if you're going to make a film about these two, at least believe in the reality of your Universe and accept that two guys having a serious talk while in costume will be the norm.

I felt exactly the same way. That was an odd scene.

I finally saw it today. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Kind of slow going at the outset and we spend a bit too much time a) watching Bruce Wayne's parents get murdered yet again, and b) watching Superman and Lois Lane mooning over each other -- but they successfully wove together some great classic Batman and Superman material that's never really made it to the big screen before, it was worth seeing for that alone. [I can see why this was maybe disorienting to the more casual, less comic book-nerd-y sort of fan or reviewer, though.] Very smart for the basic premise driving the story being the butcher's bill coming due for the mayhem that goes on in Man of Steel.

Everybody delivered great takes on their characters: Eisenberg's twitchy, sociopathic Lex Luthor I thought was particularly fantastic; Affleck's Batman and Gadot's Wonder Woman were both great; Jeremy Irons as a world-weary, long-suffering Alfred was great fun; Cavill does have the range to deliver a pretty sweet Man of Steel given the opportunity to let loose a little. Some terrific fight sequences, especially the titular throwdown. With a bit of trimming I would have given it an A- or an A, as it is it scores a B+ for me.

I'm surprised to see there isn't a lot more outrage over Bats casually killing people. There was an unending @#$%storm over Superman being forced to kill one guy, which he already did in the comics anyway, and showed proper remorse for. Yet Batman probably kills twenty five guys in this movie without the slightest hesitation. That bothers me. :wah:

Well, Warners indicated early in the week that they expected about a 67% drop this weekend and that's roughly what they got.

Hard to get worked up about Batman killing people at this late date; the guy's been headed down the road as a fucking psychopath since the '80s. Seriously, what else could he be?

He was killing people in the future, after Darksied took over, but Bruce was only maiming and branding people on the streets of Gotham?

If he was an actual "wanted" murderer, the police would be after him, and Clark wouldn't have given him a warning.

Was Lex sending Clark faked pictures of Bruce's murderous batantics?
