Having brash, young Tom Paris getting seriously involved with the motherly cougar Janeway would've served no one's end, that's for certain. VOY would've seen its ratings going South ... like a duck, in Winter! But the way this thread is going, I see your "Likes" shooting straight for the stratosphere! You've definitely found your niche ... nicely done, sir.A lot of people want Janeway and Chakotay together (and they get it in the relaunch novels), I'd love Tom paired up with Chakotay while the producer's original idea was that Tom should be Janeway's love interest before they abandoned the idea ...

Robbie McNeil said that in the original description the Pilot and the Captain were supposed to be a pairing. HOWEVER the original writers also wanted Nick Larcarno from TNG (The First Duty) on the show. We know Larcarno was a Pilot. So if they wanted McNeil as Larcarno playing the pilot....just how old was the Captain originally intended to be? Was she going to be a very young Captain? Or was Larcarno going fill some other position on the ship?
Or did they come up with the idea of using Larcarno (and McNeil) AFTER they wrote the character descriptions?
One of the many things I've wondered about.

And the whole situation is further complicated by the fact that the original Janeway was much older, I think. At least she LOOKS much older in the little footage that's available on YouTube.
It's difficult to see Genevieve Bujold as Janeway but it's a lot more difficult to imagine her as the love interest of RDM's character - be it Tom Paris or Nicolas Locarno.

Well ... the Delta Quadrant is a big place. I'm sure that just like there's a Planet of the Apes, there must be a Planet of the Easter Bunnies somewhere out there ... full of big, scary rabbits ...In which season and on which planet did Janeway and Chakotay confront that scary monster?
Or perhaps there's a VOY sequel to the TOS episode in which Kirk et al came across the white rabbit ...
