Just wondering, did any of the other fan productions pay other than per diem and perhaps travel for their actors. Specifically, did they also buy them separately broken out "over and above pay" perks like SAG membership fees?

Peters said that any use of Tony Todd in the Axanar feature would be from the Prelude video. Wouldn't they have to pay to use his image...? As I recall, that is what stopped them using Jadzia Dax clips in the final episode of DS9 - they would have had to pay

But, but, it's England, where he can promote his NEW non-Star Trek version of Axanar, entitled:
SPACE:1999 - "Battle for Axxanar"
Synopsis: The denizens of Moon Base Alpha (who've been looking for a new home since being blasted out of Earth orbit over 2 centuries ago) have finally discovered a suitable, uninhabited world - Axxanar. The current Moon Base Alpha Commander Garthh J. Koenig (descendent of original commander John Koenig) is then hailed by the Leader of a warrior race known as Klargons; and although the planet Axxanar is uninhabited - they hold the planet sacred and will not allow a colony there. The denizens of Moon Base Alpha fight many pitched battles, but are running out of Eagles; so Garthh commissions construction of a new type of combat ship - the new 'Star Wolf Class' ship Ares; which will bring sure victory for the Alphans and allow then to settle on Axxanar.

This film will focus on the final battle between the Alphans and the Klargons as the Alphans hurry to defend, complete, and launch the Ares - which Garthh himself commands - and through a series of perfect maneuvers and tactics wins the battle and gains the planet Axxanar for his people. We hope Space: 1999 fans in England will donate the 2 million pounds needed to refit a studio and office space (can't make a film without proper production offices and phone systems); and will rally to see this unseen chapter of Space: 1999 realized.)

Thanks, Patty. My typo is now fixed above. (We did not shoot "Bread and Savagery" and "Mind-Sifter" and "Going Boldly" all in the summer of 2012.) I fixed the typo to correctly reflect that some of the elements that were repurposed for the "Going Boldly" vignette were gathered at our "Mind-Sifter" shoot in *2011*.

Sounds like a case for Temporal Investigations
A union member would have to be paid something for their work. I'm wondering if he absolutely needed to become a SAG member to appear. And, I don't think he did. They basically flushed 4K of their budget down the toilet.
EDITED TO ADD: it's been clarified that Peters appeared multiple times as Garth, under SAG contracts, I assume, so he would have to join the union.
If the production is a SAG signatory, you can work for them even as a non-SAG member and, if you accrue enough working hours, you can earn the right to obtain a SAG membership--if you can con the production into completing all the necessary hour-tracking paperwork on your behalf.
Also, there is no minimum "scale" pay for SAG signatory New Media productions--Internet videos, online media, video games, etc. Producers and SAG talent can agree to any mutually-satisfying compensation arrangement. There is no SAG scale for New Media.
But, according to SAG, any Minimum wages required by law would apply, and then the 17% payment to sag would also be required....
Right. Axanar is a SAG signatory, they would have to be to use SAG actors, like Hatch. The other things that Peters appeared on: are they SAG signatories?
Ultimately: did Peters HAVE to become SAG (which I doubt) or just want to? (Which is 4K of donor money that doesn't appear on screen)
Oh, I don't think Peters HAD to do anything. I think his becoming a member of SAG had everything to do with his being able to brag about what a professional film he was making and how it was full of professional actors on screen. If he's a part of SAG, it just furthers that goal.
Everything to date about Peters and how he has conducted himself can be sourced from two ultimate objectives: Greed and bragging rights. The man is incapable of demonstrably communicating without servicing one or both of these, and often times accompanied his comments with vicious attacks and melodrama. I think he absolutely Taft Hartley'd himself in order to join SAG, and it was all so he could throw it in the faces of anyone who would dare criticize or impugn his intentions and performance as a producer, when, as we have seen, he clearly had no idea what being a producer meant or the responsibilities it entails.
Clearly, it was all for naught.
