It's really funny how many people claim "no dog in this fight." I hadn't heard that phrase in years and now on three different sites various people have used it in regards to this case.
Who besides David Gerrold has said it?

Secretary of State James Baker famously said it about the conflict in the Balkans, if that helps? Again, it's a pretty common expression. That you get hundreds of thousands of Google results may be an indication that it's not a unique identifier of someone hiding behind a screen name...

Even in the context of Axanar, LOADS of people have said it, just in this thread. I know I have. As in: not a donor, not a Axanar supporter, not associated with any other fan films, no association with CBS/Paramount or Bad Robot. Win or lose, literally nothing changes for me. hence no dog in the fight. Just watching for entertainment purposes. Not sure why this part is confusing or controversial to anyone, represents MOST of the people in this thread, minus a few that are on other fan film projects or grinding their own axes.

190 results in the bbs search. Not all are related to Axanar threads, but a good chunk are. Probably not all Gerrold...

Anyone else waiting for Rhine Wolve to appear and fight Red Omega?

Just me then?

The only thing I have against Axanar is that it is looking more and more like a way to make money off of fans. Beyond that, my only bother was all the people decrying Renegades as 'not being as good as axanar'. I liked renegades, because I am not of the generation that has the deep TOS love, and really wanted to see a high production fan film of later eras. I got bored of New Adventures/Phase II pretty quickly, I do think vic and Co over at continues are doing an awesome job (they are like an historical recreation group for Tos, gotta respect that. They are literally aping the style so well, that I think it probably does deserve to be considered educational. You get the impression if they could afford to film models and drop cgi, they would for authenticities sake.) but....it's just not my thing. I never liked Elvis, but like rock and roll, therefore I do not enjoy Elvis Impersonators as much basically.
Axanar just felt like a 'me too' project with zero interest from me.

And now this happens.

And am just sad to see what looks like a massive smack to fan films, possibly a massive smack to fandom (why should we care about catering to fans of Trek prime, they do their own thing and rip us off, said an imaginary CBS exec in juvember last year) and just makes segments of us come off as entitled idiots.

So, I guess, actually, by the end of this thought and post, and largely because of these shenanigans, I have more against Axanar than I thought.

Just think, if they had just got the bloody film done, or gone silent while they got it done and then released it, I wouldn't have any negativity, nor would many others, and maybe, just maybe, they wouldn't be about to lose their shirts in court case.

Whom gods destroy I guess.

He does quote, almost exactly, the description in Alec's bio over at the Galileo Restoration project website (emphasis mine):

About Alec Peters
Alec Peters is the founder of Propworx, which has handled studio prop & costume auctions for Battlestar Galctica, Stargate, Iron Man and Iron Man 2, as well as the official CBS licensed Star Trek auction. Alec is an attorney by training who is smart enough never to have practiced and has started 5 companies. Alec assists CBS with the Star Trek Archive.

He also quoted Alec's post on Facebook - 'Everything you have read online about this case is wrong'

It's a sad commentary on Axanar when the most creative people still attached to it are those trolling Alec.

Yeah. This would have been the case for me. Many people have said this over and over again, but you just have to look at the other fan films... they've done alot more in less time, with less money than the people at Axanar have. I get that they wanted to make a professional independent film, in regards to the quality but it's not right. Paramount are the only ones who have the license to make professional Trek films. We already know all of this though. As someone who has been critical of them, I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they wanted to do something cool as fans, for the fans, but they just went too far without permission. There isn't any other company out there that would allow a full motion picture on their licenses either.

With as arrogant, egotistical and narcissistic as he is..........this makes one wonder why he didn't just go to work filming PDQ - getting it done in record time after raising that amount would've surely inflated his ego that much more.......
