CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Greetings, folks. I am a refugee from the CBS page, hoping you will let me play in your sandbox. I was the one who kept harping on Alec's inability to follow labor law. And I think I came to his defense regarding the property purchase but martinis were involved, so there's that. Nice to meet you!

Welcome Admiral Cain, this sandbox is open to everyone, just watch out for the strange looking kid in the corner. :)

I was surprised by the vehemence of some people that wandered into that FB group. It seems that the fan community has some members that hold grudges for a very, very, very long time.

Sad to see the page shut down. Unfortunately I feel it will embolden the bullies. "I'm a lawyer I'll sue your ass" has shut up way too many people who question Alec's business practices.

Another positive, the amount of folks who will blindly give to whatever newest nonsense Alec plans on creating has been rather reduced. The "faithful" may be loud, but there are far fewer of them than when all this began.

The Enterprise aside, I like most of the reboot "Pre-TOS Era" designs.

Agreed. I actually liked what we saw of Starfleet during the first 15 minutes of Trek '09, from the implied perscan system in the uniforms to the exterior of the ship. The shuttles looked stupid but I could have dealt with it if they story and characters were good.

But that's water under the bridge.

I can totally see the CBS admin's point of view. It's one thing to have Alec blowing smoke all by himself, it's quite another when he has obtained quality pro bono counsel.

I'm disgusted the CBS group was taken down. That posting about the real estate business was stupid and regrettable, but bullying a group into closing so they can protect their echo chamber is despicable.

I've left any Axanar-related groups I was in because it has stopped being funny. These people are crooks and deserve what is coming.

It's always a shame when one person takes things to far and ruins things for everybody else. From the posts on here it sounds like the incident in question might have been somewhat accidental, but when it comes to anything like this financial and house stuff, you have to be careful you're not posting anything you shouldn't. Even if they didn't mean to reveal somebody's address, they still made a mistake by not checking things more closely before they posted them.

Someone said it was a journalist who pushed this info into the group. Was it then someone who is definitely not affiliated with the Axanar camp?

Last night, as I was sleeping next to my buxom bride, someone in the I Stand With CBS group did something they shouldn't have. I think it crossed the line and if the group was still around the posts would have been deleted and said poster removed.

I wake up this morning to my delightful offspring kissing my cheek and read a threatening Facebook message (with the same threatener's phone number so I have that now). Someone involved with Axanar took umbrage - and, being their nature - threatened to involve the police and serve many a lawsuit. I talked with the aforementioned bride and followed her recommendation to close the group to avoid any more fucking drama.

Honestly, the game of oneupmanship over the past couple of days meant this was going to happen sooner rather than later. When someone wrote that faux-review on my Zillow profile I considered walking away at that point.

Why did I close it rather than just hand it off to someone else? I didn't want someone else taken down in the cross-fire. Not everyone has a million dollars or pro-bono representation to fight their lawsuits for them. I'm one of those people.

One of the questions asked, is where has the money been spent. The creation of a corporation in another state, by the principle, isn't necessarily out of bounds in terms of questioning.

Sorry, but to me, things like corporate filings, where he's spending money and any sort of "investigation" like that should be left to the court room or real investigative reporters.

Facebook and online forums are not the place for that sort of thing.

At least its some barely conscious idiot getting their 'power' from affiliating with people who are spending their lives trying to write themselves into a tv story and its profits.

it could be a religious fanatic getting their power from people who are handing out machine guns to their supporters.
