Snoke - speculation (spoilers)

My speculation is that Snoke is actually about two inches tall, and deals with everybody via the giant hologram to make himself seem larger than life, kind of like the Wizard of Oz.

I actually think this is on point (although not the 2 inches part). I think Snoke is a creature about the size of Yoda -- perhaps related to Yoda? (an evil twin?)

This is my theory as well. Sorta like the opposite of Maz. They know a lot about the Force and can sense it around them, but are not Jedi/Sith.

I think he is a Sith, and the Plagueis theory makes a lot of sense to me. I know it's probably not going to be the case, but it still makes sense.

As for Snoke himself, I'm all but certain he's the same race Maz is. The same general face- and mouth-shape cinches it, though Snoke has some of the flesh of his cheek rotted away (which is part of the reason the Plagueis idea makes so much sense). And the overcompensating holo-projection really adds fuel to it, hinting that he's actually quite small.

Plus Snoke is the kind of name you'd give to a little guy.

Snoke's line about completing Kylo Ren's training strongly implies he is this trilogy's equivalent of Palpatine. He might not be a "Sith" in terms of formal membership and title, having never been inducted into the Banite Sith order or any other Sith order ( as far as we know at this point ), but he's most likely equivalent to a Sith. I would call him a SIABN ( Sith In All But Name ).

In theory, after the death of Palpatine and Vader, there shouldn't be a "Rule of Two" anymore. Maybe Snoke is building a Sith army!

The "rule of two" thing was never really backed up in the movies. Sure, Yoda implied that it was a thing, but considering that Palpatine, Maul, and Dooku were all fully trained and active at the same time completely blows it out of the water.

But Dooku wasn't a Sith at the time; he was a Jedi. He didn't become Palpatine's apprentice until after Maul was killed.

That's more of a direct statement than an implication. As a 900-year-old Jedi Master, I would think that he has picked up some expertise in the history and lore of various factions and sects based around usage of "The Force."

And Dooku was already trained as a Jedi. He must have become a Sith Lord at some point in the ten years between TPM and AOTC.

Indeed, but it was also more a matter of Sith policy than anything. If Palpatine wanted to, he could have gathered all sorts of apprentices and trained them up, but that would have run the risk of one of them killing him in order to seize power.

Without any of the old guard of Sith left to keep the tradition, the Dark Side is kind of free to do what it wants.

To be fair, who would have policed the policy either way? If there's only two, they're the only two who could. And if it was just down to one, who'd tell him no? Is there a secret council of Sith Who Aren't Sith But Policy All the Silly Policies They Apparently Have?

Maybe THE SITH? Perhaps they're a species that stays on their own world, and only allows their secret sorcerous knowledge of the dark side of the Force to be known by two outsiders at any given time - a Master, and his Apprentice. And if they find out that anyone else is practicing their arts, they will come out just long enough to hunt them down and eliminate them.

I mean, that goes completely against what we knew from the EU, but since that's all out the window, why not?

Never, though in "The Clone Wars" TV show the Sith did have a homeworld.

Well, obviously they don't really obey the rule, they aim to betray either each other, if there are many, or their master eventually. It's in their nature. Dooku trained Ventress while being Palpatine's aprentice, Vader wanted to take Luke under his wing to betray the emperor. Still, if Snoke isn't Plagueis I think the Sith are done and these guys are wannabes (hello, Ren!) or something else all together.
