Spoilers The Flash - Season 2

I'm glad Barry didn't reveal himself to Patty right there. Weather Wizard and Trickster are not people you want knowing your secret identity.

Hoping Wells is smart enough to "work for" Zoom just to keep him close enough to learn how to beat him.

I would have liked him to reveal he was the Flash at the christmas party, right before Wally showed up. Of course it would have undermined the previous scene where Patty confesses to him but it would have been a nice scene to have for the Christmas season.

Overall I liked the episode. Glad we got to meet Wally and I agree the solution was a little stupid.

I thought there was a bit of technobabble that I wasn't catching linking the bombs together so they'd do that, but I guess not. If it was just plain magnetism, then that was stupid.

I'm getting the sense that Patty isn't long for the show...that the next step in the longer-term Barry/Iris relationship is Barry getting his Gwen Stacy.

^I suppose Wentworth Miller's acting style is an acquired taste. It's certainly distinctive, but I find it kind of stilted myself.

It was sort of a mix of both. It was magnetism that was somehow calibrated to the specific composition of the bombs and super-amplified so that the one bomb in the breach attracted all the other bombs and nothing else.

Ooh, I hope not. For all that Gwen's storyline was powerful and poignant in its day, it was pretty much an archetypal fridging, killing a female character purely as a plot device to give angst to a male character. I think the time for that kind of thing has passed -- as evidenced by how popular the alternate-universe "Spider-Gwen" has been with Marvel readers over the past couple of years.

Maybe they'll do something different, but this is a CW show....When they've got the lead character talking about how happy he is in his current situation, you know he's got a comeuppance lurking right around the corner.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean a female character has to have her whole life reduced to a plot device to service the man's arc. She can break up with him without her life ending, because she's not defined solely as a relationship object for him.

They've already done the breakup angle with Linda...they need to go someplace different with Patty.

Now Linda is running around somewhere knowing Barry's identity...maybe she gets offed and Barry decides that he Can Never Allow Anyone to Get So Close Again...except for Joe, Iris, and the gang at STAR Labs, of course, they're all grandfathered in.

Wentworth Miller was absolutely amazing in Prison Break. Such amazing intensity and intelligence. His character in The Flash is a lot more over the top and campy, which is a tough sit.

Camp was a while ago. Cold is super camp.

Has anyone asked Wentworth if he's playing Captain Cold gay or straight?

Moreso is it his decision or the producers or DC, and can he surprise the producers by outing Cold without "permission" if he feels like it's in his interest to do so?

I'm starting to wonder if Zoom is Earth 2's Snart?

There's something...little things. I'll admit the "Merry Christmas" Snart said to Barry may just be a red herring. But there was something I can't put a finger to...

I don't think there's anything suspicious about two different characters in a Christmas episode both saying "Merry Christmas."

Zoom could be a Thawne! Never trust a Thawne!

Patty was annoying this EP and I had liked her up until now. She could be Zoom! ;)

^ Naw...Zoom is....the Big Belly Burger manager! The All Stars Team forgot to pay the lunch tab (when they were feeding their imprisoned metahumans), and now they've stopped going there altogether and he went bankrupt! Revenge is a Big Belly burger served cold...

The revelation that Zoom is encouraging Barry to become faster (Where have we heard that before?) to fatten him up made me briefly suspicious of Jay again, but then Jay could just be there as our example of what Zoom ultimately intends to do to Barry.

I actually enjoy Wentworth's Snart, I think his over-the-topness is deliberate, but Hamill's Trickster is just painful to watch.

I think he's great. It's Hamill's chance to play the Joker in live action, essentially. Hamill has one of the great villain voices of our age. I was listening more than watching, and I loved it.

Wentworth Miller was introduced as Joan's adversary on Joan of Arcadia just before it got cancelled. He was the other person who could talk to God but he was "evil". He was pretty good there and it was a shame we didn't get more.

I'd say that Hamil and Captain Cold are both great. Not every villain needs to be some dark, serious guy. Trickster is awesomely over the top, but still threatening. Easily my favorite villain of the show, even over Reverse Flash. Captain Cold is very solid, I can't see what he's done that's bad. I watch Flash to see a fun show that embraces the comic book elements. If I wanted some blandly dark villain who was written to ignore their comic influences just to be dark and broody, I'd rewatch The Dark Knight  Trickster is pretty much perfect, and Captain Cold is very good. I like both serious and OTT villains, and The Flash has very good examples of both.

Agreed on everything, except that I didn't love it. It was distracting. They should have gone ahead and just made him the Joker. His Trickster seemed like Joker Lite. Feh.
