Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

According to backstage sources the bed is supposed to double as a sofa, but even a single bed it 3' deep, not very comfy if you just wanted to sit down!

As someone on the taller side (75", 1.9m), that overhang would probably preclude me from using it as a sofa at all.

I first read that as "7 feet, 5 inches"! Then I realized you meant "75 inches" or "6 feet, 3 inches".

Sincerely,

Bill

Between the depth of the bed (most normal couch cushions are what, 14-18" from front to back?) and the overhang, I can't see too many people using it for that purpose.

Well, to be honest, nobody looks particularly comfortable in any of these 70's-designed seats.

Partly because they were hammered together at the last minute and were basically fabric covered wood boxes.

With really cheap foam rubber padding. My church used to have seats like that in their high school classroom. No one liked it.

Just got back to the states, and love the latest work Donny. Knew you would do it justice! :techman:

Thanks, Basill! And since you're also doing a build of the quarters, I thought I'd let you know I've discovered a discrepancy in all of the available schematics out there. If you're interested, PM me.

And, guys, I'm taking a little break to immerse myself in Fallout 4 for a bit. What a great game.

Aaaaaaaand that was the last we saw of Donny.

(I just started the game myself.)

Nah. If anything, playing a game that thrusts you into a fully-realized and detailed environment will only inspire me to keep chugging along at my project. Games have a habit of doing that, just like Alien: Isolation gave me a ton of inspiration.

Trust me. I'm already itching to get back to my project!

Worked on the Junior Officer's variant of the quarters set today...still have to add a few details (like the control panel near the bed). Unfortunately, Unreal Engine 4 doesn't support a true mirrored surface at this time, so the mirror will remain black until I find a workaround. All the random objects are only temporary.

Two bottles of Saurian brandy, one of Romulan ale and some "It's Green?" This junior officer is ready for a party!

Great work! Interesting that it doesn't support mirrors though. I remember being amazed by the mirrors in the bathrooms of Duke Nukem 3D!

It makes no sense. Unreal Engine 3 supported it, but the tools that made it possible are missing from Unreal Engine 4. I'm not the only one that's pissed about it, and over a year of users begging to bring it back hasn't caused Epic to reimplement it into the engine. I don't get it.
