Jenna leaving - next compnion ?

If series 10 is scattered, limited, split, or specials, I could see the Doctor having different companions over the course of the series, much like Tennant's Series 4B specials.

But I like Clara. She's got a wit to her and can keep up with the Doctor. Also she bounces in nice ways in some outfits.
Yup, that is the consensus.

1. A warped season, possibly movies.

2. Jenna has at least average looks.

The doctor travelling with a male companion would be something new (I know he has done it before but not for extended periods) and someone from the past/future would be a change, but really they just have to have personality and not be annoying.
Not for extended periods? Jamie McCrimmon, anyone?

Sorry I thought it was fairly implicit that I was talking about the Doctor travelling solely with a male companion. Others will know better but the only occasions that come to mind are the Doctor and Adric in The Keeper of Traken (I know Nyssa was there but my understanding is that Sarah was just a guest star at the time rather than a potential new companion) or with Wilf in The End of Time. Obviously he was travelling alone Jamie at the start of Evil of the Daleks and The Wheel in space, with Adric at the start of Logopolis and with Turlough at the start of Planet of Fire, but in each case new, female, companions were introduced in those episodes.

Unless I'm missing something painfully obvious?

The Unit Years.

The Doctor and the Brig getting shit faced 3 to 5 nights a week.

No girls invited.

Liz and Jo didn't live with him, they were purely 9 to 5.

They teased the notion of The Master being a companion back in series 3; so why not give it a go with Missy? With the more cerebral, morally ambiguous tone of Capaldi's first year, it could make for a great chess game in every episode (assuming Capaldi's doesn't radically shift his personality).

Someone not from earth would be cool..maybe one of the alien races normally considered evil? A Zygon, or even....a good dalek?

Or...something totally insane:

The 8th Doctor! The Doctor as companion to himself ;-)

It's too obvious.

We can see it coming.

Our TV should be just a little bit smarter than we are.

Less fanfictiony.

It's wrong of them to let us receive weak predictable storylines.

Back in the day of spec scripts.

The producers on MASH told their writers room that there was never to be a situation where Trapper/BJ got shot and Hawkeye had to operate because they had received 15 thousand (and counting) scripts with variations on that plot, and they were likely to be sued, and be called plagerists if they ever tried somethign similar. It wasn't a good idea, becuase every monkey with a typewriter had already thought of it and put a draft to paper.

When Silar the mass murderer from season one of Heroes became first a good guy, and the the third Petrelli brother in seaosn three, you could see an idiot was producing the show who couldn't work out that the most popular character on Heroes was the most popular character becuase he was a deranged mass murdering sociopath... But bad guys can't be heroes, and you can't have a show called Heroes all about a bad guy who has to have %90 of the screen time or the audience flicks their dial, sorry, I mean that the audience stops flicking their dial.

"Sigh"

If Missy is not an evil nutbag then they should have brought Romana or Susan back.

I will only believe she's leaving when she is gone. Mr. Moffat is always playing this "attention via false news and rumours" game both in his scripts and outside too, in the real world.

Somebody from Downton Abbey. Anyone except Mary, 'cause it would be a case of the universe is ending, and all she would have to say would be "Golleh."

I'd say, "What about Lady Edith?," but I've recently pencilled in Laura Carmichael on my list of possible future Doctors. The reason is that I think Edith would have worked really well against Matt Smith, but I don't see her working well against Capaldi.

If I could take a character from another television series and make that character a companion, my choices would be Sarah Bolger's Princess Mary from The Tudors or George Blagden's Athelstan from Vikings. (Lagertha would be incredible, but I don't think she'd work for more than an episode.)

This time it has some credibility to it, because she has nearly 3 years under her belt, almost as much as Smith when he left and there is specific talk about her next role as young Queen Elisabeth already.

Would be hilarious if she comes back at some point as the youngest incarnation of Elisabeth we have yet seen instead of Clara and they retcon her as a Clara splinter with the destiny to marry the Doctor! :guffaw:

Well let's see, Jenna is spending the time when the Christmas Special is being shot travelling around the world to various Conventions and ITV are really making a Queen Victoria series that she really did audition for; so if it's all a Moffat Hoax I'll be incredibly impressed...

Gone forever vs. A year off.

I'd imagine she'll have been looking at the trajectory of Karen Gillan's career ('Selfie' aside) and thinking she could be doing the same.

The post-Who career options for Companions is a hell of lot brighter than it was in the old days. Look at Arthur Darvil; gone from playing the Companion to playing the Doctor...

I must admit that I haven't bothered to read the details about her involvement. It may be an expensive project. But maybe it's a movie about Victoria's whole life and not just her 20something years and then Jenna gets three scenes or less.

(I want Tom Daley as the new companion. :D )

It's a TV series and from the description she'd be playing her for the bulk of her life.

Now I checked it:

I used the link from the first post
It's an eight part tv series.

"Jenna will play Queen Victoria from when she became queen as a frumpy 18-year-old in 1837, through the early part of her 63-year reign."

That can mean anything. From three scenes or two episodes to all episodes.

I used to think the tragedy of Darvill playing Rory is that he'd never get the chance to play the Doctor, because I thought he'd be a damned fine Doctor. Rip Hunter is the next best thing, and I hope Legends of Tomorrow uses Darvill in that way.

This Queen Victoria miniseries had damned well feature her battling werewolves and founding TORCHWOOD. But who will play the Tenth Doctor?
